Ancient laws were not based on "sound and technical reasons" There was virtually no science or understanding of health issues and disease processes when those restrictions were put in place. Muslims and Jews have dietary restrictions because they believe God wants them to..

It's a common belief in Middle Eastern cultures and religions (Judaism has the same belief on this matter) that pigs are "unclean" animals; the reason for this is that pig flesh tends to have more parasites, such as trichinosis. Granted, other animals can get parasites, too, but the appearance of pigs living in their own filth and eating leftovers or anything they can find only lends itself to uncleanliness, in the human mindset--ignoring the fact that pigs actually take better care of themselves than other livestock. Pig meat is just as safe as any other meat, as long as the animal was raised healthy and the meat is thorougly cooked.

I just give you pig facts in chinese zodiac. The Pig is a fun and enlightening personality blessed with patience and understanding. People born under the sign of the Pig enjoy life and all it has to offer, including family and friends. They are honest and thoughtful and expect the same of other people. Pigs can be perceived as oblivious or gullible because they do care about others so much that they will do just about anything for a friend in need.

This may not seem technical, but maybe it's sound.
Here's something a little different: The boar (pig) represents selfishness, and uncontrolled self-indulgence, gluttony. He is very intelligent, hardy, and strong (cloven hoof) but he is not considerate (chewing cud) : he is belligerent and aggressive...he has fangs...nor does he show mercy, or compassion. He is not to be trusted- he does not tame reliably...he would eat his keeper if he could. His dung smells of his lack of preference. He does not discern between his friends and his enemies...nor does he think it's important...He is a relentless eater...and is easily exploited by this weakness. He roots in the soil and muck for anything he can find...driven by his voracious appetite- which can never be satisfied. Thus, he is the harbinger of pestilence and disease.
He represents all the evil traits of mankind in one animal. His god is his belly. And he is eaten by many with great relish...but one mistake in preparation or handling could cost the one who eats him his health, or his life.

"In the Qur'an (and in the Old Testament of the Bible) there is a story that God cast (threw) the devil into a pig. Therefore, pork and any pork products (some types of gelatin, and lard) and even leather goods from the pig are forbidden to Muslims. This is also true of Jewish traditions."

Most religions aside from some Christians who follow the new covenant, do not eat pork. Pork is unclean both by the Bible and by science. It contains many bacteria and parasites, including the Trichina worm.

Ancient health problems. Pigs used to carry the trichinosis worm and it was a good idea not to eat them.

But even though pork is safe now the religions haven't changed. Orthodox Jews don't eat pork either.

Asalam Alaikum I am not sure sis. Mice and rats are haram so I don't know if a guinea would fall under that category or not. Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with them both) narrated that Hafsah said: the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There are five animals for which there is no blame on the one who kills them: crows, kites (hawk-like birds), mice/rats, scorpions and mad dogs.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1828. (Translators’ note: the Arabic word fa’rah may refer to rats or mice, so both are mentioned in the translation).

Pigs are disgusting and dirty and known to harbor diseases. I stopped eating pork long before I became Muslim because it always made me ill.
