You are probably using the wrong type of meat. Burgers need fat, so aim for 80% or 85% lean ground beef. Anything leaner will dry out while grilling.

I add the following ingredients to the burger mixture before forming the patties:

Minced onion
Minced garlic
Fresh ground pepper
Worchesteshire sauce

Never flatten your patties when making them. You want slightly rounded burgers for the grill.

Grill on high heat (to sear the juices in) for 2 minutes on each side. Then reduce flames to low and cook to desired doneness.

First of all buy good quality meat with a higher fat content.
Dont handle the meat too much.
Heat up your grill as hot as it will go. Throw the meat on, 2 minutes on one side, 2 minutes on the other. This will seal in both sides of the patty
Then turn the heat down. I prefer turning off most of the burners on the grill and finish cooking the meat over indirect heat until done.
Personally, I dont like well done burgers, I find them a bit dry. I prefer done about medium to medium rare.
As far as spices. If you are at least 21 years old, try this. Go buy a bottle of crown royal and marinate the meat in Crown and Coke before grilling. It makes it tase great.

You want to get a medium fatty hamburger like ground chuck. In a bowl place burger, add salt & pepper, mix lightly with hands. Shape burgers. On med-/med/high heat, (close grill to make hot) place burgers on grill, and while cooking add a few drops of Worchestershire Sauce on each burger. Only flip burgers once, as over-flipping can dry them out. Put a few more drops of W.S. after flipping.

My family loves inside-out burgers. We start with 80-85% lean meat so it doesn't dry out. Make a small bowl shape with the burger and put in some chopped onion, seasoning, shredded cheese and even pickle if you like. Close up the bowl and flatten without letting stuffing out. Grill without overcooking. I also like to add some bbq sauce to the meat before making the bowl as it adds flavor and moistness. We also love to serve them on toasted buns. It adds a little extra touch!

Use ground chuck (85/15), add an egg - it helps hold the patties together, make them as flat as you can because they'll puff up when they start cooking, DO NOT flatten them with the spatula (releases the juice and dries them out), and don't overcook. You can buy a cheap thermometer which will help you get them to the right temp to kill bacteria without overcooking - about 155 to 160 degrees. Put some oil or butter on the bun and grill lightly....yummmmm

A lot of top chefs mix a little chopped onion and tomato sauce in with the ground beef before you put it on the grill. Salt and pepper are also good for more flavor. It sounds like you might be over cooking them, and you might be using meat that is too lean. Ground chuck usually tastes the best.

mix in some steak sauce or worchishire sauce in your hamburger meat also add some garlic powder or minced garlic and ad some minced onions .Make your patties and put on the grill and DO NOT push down on them with the spatula this actually pushes the juices out just keep flipping them over till they are ready you should tell the difference .
