I'd have to say yeah, especcially if you are the one who asked her on the date. Don't know what type of gal we're talking about here...but I imagine both an old-fashioned gal like myself and a modern chic would find it both rude and certainly a reflection of the type of person you are. I would say if you actually ask her that you are not likely to have a 2nd date.

Technically it is rude for you to "ask." It is perfectly normal and natural for a first date to be Dutch, however, but only if she insists or is comfortable that way - and if it just happens on its own. If you force it or ask, then you're being rude, and a bad first impression for her. Otherwise, be prepared and expect to pay. Take it from a married man, I have been on every possible date scenario you can imagine! Good Luck!

In my opinion -
If a person asks another person out on a date without saying anything about paying, then the asker should pay -- even if the person asking is the girl.
I realize that women are sexist about this a lot -- and they think the guy should pay it all if he asks, and at most they should split it if she asks, but I think that if you asked her out, then you should pay. If you want to go Dutch, then you should say that up front.

If you asked her out on the date - yes, very rude, because by asking her out you implicitly offered to treat her.
If she asked you out - she should pay for both meals.
If you are strictly friends or explicitly agreed to go "dutch" - then you should each pay for your own.
It's rude to refer to women as "chicks" - even if she is a total bimbo, you should treat her like a lady... that's the sign of a gentleman and a REAL man.

Generally when you invite someone to dinner - date or no date - you offer to pay for both, especially the first time. It depends on circumstannce as well: did you specifically invite her or was it something you both sort of decided to do?

Unless you have previously set up the date as "going dutch", pay your own way, then it is generally preceived that the first date is paid by one person.

That all depends. Do you expect her to come accross on the first date? Sounds like you are the type of guy that would.
