A friend is someone who will bail you out no questions asked. But a good friend is one who will sit in the same jail cell with you and say "Damn that was fun!"

A good friend doesn't have to talk EVERY day. Me and my best friend talk about once a week, or more if something's up like something happens and we just want to talk to each other. A good friend doesn't just use the other person. They'll know that they can come to them if they need something but at the same time want to spend time with them and talk to them other than just when they need something. A good friend will be there for you when you're upset and genuinely care

Its hard nowadays because a lot friends talk behind each others backs. And life today is very busy for everyone, so its not like you have time to talk to your friend everyday for very long.
To me a good friend is someone who can keep a secret, who you can trust, who you can confine in, who makes you happy, who lends you their shoulder to cry on, who is there to give you advice and who is there to support you 100%.
That is a rare person to find, because lets face it, we're all a bad friend at some point!! Thats just human nature! But you'll know if you have good friends or not, even if you dont talk to them everyday!! As long as their there for you, then you know their good friends.

a good friend is one who is there for you always.
I have about 4 good friends that I consider life long friends.
I talk to them periodically.....birthdays, holiday cards, etc.
Maybe talk on the phone one or twice a year, but I KNOW, without a shadow of a doubt, that IF I ever need them - to talk, to cry, whatever - they would be there in heartbeat.
A good friend can be so many different things, but they dont HAVE to be someone you talk to all the time. As long as the relationship goes both ways........its not always them needing you, but they are there when you need them as well.

My BF and I talk about 3 times a day, most days. We work while we are on the phone. I absolutely know that if I need something from her she will be there. And the same goes for me. Our daughters are also BF's so we are always together.

A good friend..... honest, trustworthy, loyal.
A good friend helps you out when you are down, with out an expectation of return.
A good friend is honest with you even when you dont want them to be. But they need to be.
A good friend would never betray a trust intentionally.
A good friend laughs with you , cries with you, holds yous when you need it, supports you when you really f***'d things up. They laugh at you when you are stupid, but love you anyway.
They know when to keep their mouth shut and when to express what needs to be said
The amount of time spent with a friend is not whats important the quality of the time spent is.
I have a friend I only see once every 3-4 years.. but no matter how long it's been its as if yesterday just happened. We pick up on where we left off, catching up on bits and pieces along the way.
If you find but one good friend in life consider your self blessed.
