He may need his anal glands expressed (your vet can show you how) or possibly the lump is a tick bite that has gotten infected. There's also a certain type of fly larva that lives in a little "volcano" in animals skin. Let us know what you find out this afternoon.

Eww, go to the vet or a groomer, they can help you with this one. Dogs have these things called anal glands that get blocked from time to time, and then they need to be squeezed to get the excess crap out. You cna do it yourself, but I warn you it is really really REALLY disgusting and it will make you want to barf, guaranteed. So if I were you, I'd spend a little extra cash and pay a professional, such as a vet or groomer, to do it for you. It's not a serious thing, it happens occasionally. Has your dog been scooting his butt on the floor at all? That's usually what they do when their anal glands are blocked. One easy way to make sure that it doesn't happen again is to get his glands regularly checked and/or squeezed by the vet or groomer, like every 3-6 months or so. Good luck!

It does sound like an infected anal gland. Glad you have an appointment with your vet.

Ok listen up... the others are wrong.. sorry. Anal glands are just that around the anus. you are describing the location (area ) of the testes. there are no anal glands there. hopefully it is just an infection, but it could be a tumor of some type. sorry for your pup.

That sounds bad. He does need to see a vet. Could he have been injured?
