Not really. Once you're out of college, it will actually seem normal. I think your mom is just overreacting.

This is actually a common age difference between successful couples, and if this is to be a long-term relationship it could be a good match. During these years, though, there are a few difficulties. Most of them have to do with the differences with respect to legal restrictions.
Until you are eighteen, even safe sex is risky. If your mother knows that the two of you are sexually active, she can have him prosecuted for statutory rape. If she is angry enough to do this, you should delay sex until after your eighteenth birthday.
Before too long, he will be old enough to drink legally and may want to go to places where you won't be able to get in unless you get a fake ID, which carries risks of its own. I'd advise against it. This could raise trust issues.
So all in all, dating is problematic, but in the long run, your relationship has a good chance of thriving. There is no right or wrong involved.

There is nothing wrong with it. I've seen it happen many times. However, I can tell you with confidence that relationships like that don't last long. You two are at different stages in life. He'll be embarrassed to introduce you to his college friends and you'll be embarrassed to introduce him to your high school friends. He'll be going out drinking while you can't. He'll be at parties with tons of horny girls and you'll be at home worrying because your mom won't let you go.
Just keep it casual with him and find someone closer to your age for now. After you turn 21 you'll have all the time in the world to date older men.

No, four-years is not wrong. He's in college well, it's better than just a school diploma or dropped out. I wish I know why your mother is mad. May be trying to protect you.
You ask what to do. Let your mother know who your boy friend is. May be she will less mad.

If your just dating then whats the harm, if your having sex then I can see the problem and agree with your mom. Your both young and will have a life time to make choices. I know that the feelings your having appear life demanding, but really they are not. Just have fun, date lots of interesting people and broaden your interest. It will save you lots of heartache and pain. When your my age or your mothers age, you will thank us both.

There's nothing wrong with that. If the two of you like each other then you owe it to yourselves to find out what can happen. You should be aware that the two of you are in different points in your lives and that what you want may not be what he wants. At the age that you two are at, there is a lot changing from year to year, so 4 years could cause a huge difference in priorities.

Well...if he is going into college that puts him at 17-18 right? That means your are 13-14 right?
So, in 10 years...no problem. Today - if you were my daughter I chase him off with a shotgun ;)

Of course not. There are people liking people up to 20 years older than them so what' s the big deal about 4 years. However i think your mom is just pissed off because you are dating someone. Maybe she thinks you are not ready. Btw don' t quarrel with her, it never works when you quarrel. Just persuade her gently.

Hey if you like him you like him. It might work out but im not sure, because of the age difference. But your mom isn't just mad. She is just kind of worried about you liking someone older. But let her know how great he it! good luck, i hope this can help you!

I think her main concern is that he's over 18 & you're not. If you were a Freshman in college & he had just graduated college there probably wouldn't be an issue.
