Replace the obsession with something else that takes up your time and energy. Obsessed with (puke) Brad Pitt? Replace him with Kenny Chesney. Obsessed with American Idol? Try singing Karaoke yourself and see how you do. Obsessed with food? Try coming up with recipes to make eggplant and amaranth flour taste good. Open up your own restaurant and drive yourself into exhaustion, and see how obsessed you are one year later. Obsessed with flowers? Grow them yourself? Obsessed with the cute guy in the cubicle next to you at work? Write down a list of things he might not like about you and things you might not like about him and see if you still want him.
Try to turn your obsession into a career and cash in. It will either consume you or you will kick it in the end.

stop thinking about it, find a new hobby, or something that will at least keep your mind off it.
