No they can't be demon possessed....but they can be demonized...which is NOT possession....It's more of being under demonic attack and to the point of the demons making them doubt who whey are in Christ. Which is why we need to spend every day in God's word. Darkness cannot co-exist with Light...If a Christian ignores the Holy Spirit and doesn't spend time in the word (which is the Ultimate Light), they open the door for darkness to creep in. They may not be sinning in the sense of going off and doing wrong things but doing what is right but allowing the "feelings" and "doubts" and "fears" to overwhelm them. We have been given ALL authority by the Lord and can rebuke the demons that try. By keeping in constant contact with our Lord, can help keep us from opening the way for us to be demonized.

Some good answers here. Possession is definitely impossible for a true Christian; however the number of 'CHURCHIANS' who simply follow the teachings of the Bible but never enter into a personal relationship with the Triune God, possible only through the atoning death of Christ, are wide open to demonic possession. I think particularly of those who are 'carried about by every wind of [obviously man-made] doctrine' (Eph. 4:14: see also Col. 2:22; 1 Tim. 4:1-8; 2 Tim. 4:3,4; Heb. 13:9). These are the people who are susceptible to possession within the church, not the real believers.
However, don't make the mistake of thinking Christians are immune to sin, for that is diametrically opposed to the teachings of Paul, John et. al. Christians can and frequently do sin: but if the sin is repeatedly followed, and that person's belief is that so long as they keep it secret then it won't matter, that person is not a Christian, for that person is not seeking after the things of Christ.
If anyone reading this recognise themselves in the foregoing paragraph(s), then repent of your sin, accept there is nothing you can do to earn God's favour, and accept Jesus as your God, Lord and Saviour. If you truly do this, then you are born again, and Christ's Spirit will enable you to overcome your sins. That may involve you moving out of the area that leads to sin, e.g. if your hand is in the till, or if you're evading paying your full taxes, then change your job, or have someone else do your tax returns.
In a nutshell, don't blame the devil for your own sins.

Absolutely not. A number of false teachers have made a lot of money out of this nonsense, hurt a lot of young Christians and caused mental damage to others. It is a lie of the first magnitude. True believers however can be deceived into thinking it because instead of reading the Bible they read some best selling novel about the anti Christ or casting out spirits. If people spent as much time praying as they do listening to tapes watching videos going to conferences and reading anything other than the Bible the world would be a lot better place.

I believe it is very possible. There has been several highly religious people who have been possessed. Some look at it as (It will sound crazy) but a privillege because it is a test from god)-you see first hand evil- and when you beat it you can only become closer to god and have an appreciation for him that is out of this world. And if this is not the case then why does alot of christians undergo hardships in their life??? God allows things to happen for reasons, everything is a test, and nobody is above anything happening anymore then the next guy- he loves us all the SAME- whether you sit in church 5 times a week or worship Satan- he loves us equally and he does not show favortism.

Agreed Primo.
Though Christians can be oppressed by demonic spirits and they will hang around with their filthy claws in Christians that open the door to let them in, by dwelling on lustful or evil thoughts, or what you watch on tv/read etc.
It is the mind that is satans playground.
Ever heard of the fact that you can't stop the birds from flying over, but you can sure stop them from nesting.

If you are filled with the Holy Spirit, there is no room for evil. Read 1st John. 1:5-7
Walking in the light
5This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
Mark 3:22-30
22 And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, "He is possessed by Beelzebub! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons."
23 So Jesus called them and spoke to them in parables: "How can Satan drive out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. 27 In fact, no one can enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can rob his house. 28 I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. 29 But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin."
30 He said this because they were saying, "He has an evil spirit."

If the believer has a stronghold in their life that they have not dealt with, yes. Not in the sense of Exorcist type flailing and spitting, but in the sense of addictions and other problems they can't cure with regular help such as counselling etc. Take addictions to sex, porn, etc., rageaholics, etc.
YES we have the Holy Spirit but if a Christian is consenting to a behaviour and refusing to deal with an area in their lives in spite of conviction, that's a stronghold. And if they are ignorant of their ability to bind Satan in their own lives, they are playing straight into the devil's manipulation.

No. The Bible states that once someone accepts Christ, He (Christ) has complete control. Satan held you captive until you received Christ, now Satan has been expelled, and Christ reigns in his stead.
As a Christian, you will be hounded and battered by demons (2 Corinthians 12:7). However, because of God's grace, the demons can only OPPRESS you, not POSSESS you! (can I get an "Amen" right there?!)

Nope a 'TRUE' believer can't. If Christ lives in you, a demon can't. But if someone who believes they are a Christian, even acts like one, but never truly accepted christ, they can be. I heard the story of a pastor that during one of his sermons, he realized he had never truly asked Christ into his heart and got saved then. So prior, even though he was a pastor, he could have been possessed.

No. Clearly the word states that "Greater is he that is in me, than he that is in the world." Jesus lives in us, and as Christians we belong to God. Meaning that no "weapon that is formed shall prosper". The enemy does fight against children of God, because he doesn't have us. I also believe that if you believe in the power of God, The enemy can't overtake you. You have to put the Word of God on him, and he will flee. The only power he has is what you give to him. Jesus has given us authority over unclean spirits. He may tempt you but it doesn't mean you have to give in.
