Or was it added, like 'Under God' was added to the American pledge of allegiance? Do you have any constitutional amendment like the US does regarding freedom of religion? And how does all this make you feel?

It was always there, but there is an alternative (equally official) version created in 2004 that replaces that line.

Freedom of Religion is protected in our Constitution--in fact it is the first fundamental right described by the Charter of Rights. Part of that is Freedom of Conscience, which grants atheists the same rights.

The history of Canadian rights is somewhat different from that of the US -- the Canadian head of state is still technically the Queen of England, for example, something most Americans would take a pretty dim view of even today.

Oddly, the French version does not mention God directly, but rather 'the cross'.

Yes, 'God keep our land' has always been part of the first verse.

In between 2005-2006, a version was released replacing some parts of the lyrics including "God keep our land" in order to avoid offending the many non-religious living in Canada. Many still use this.

I think it has always been there. Doesn't really bother me. I have no problem with christian traditions, its the actual belief that bothers me. You see santa everywhere at christmas but you don't say he should be removed. It is just a custom let the custom live and the faith die
