Religious types, answer me this.
No evidence has ever been found for gods, demons, angels and any other supernatural creature associated with religion.
Intelligent design theory, just so you are aware, I think is a load of pap and nothing that evolution of species didn't manage.
Science constantly finds evidence backing natural evolution, but religion has no evidence of divine creation.
Yet in spite of the utter lack of proof you continue to try to convert the rest of us 'poor souls' to your various religions.
I'll convert to the first religion that can show me incontrovertable proof of their deity's existence. I expect I'll be non religious for the rest of my days with that simple little challenge.
In the meantime, why do you believe so readily in something you can't see, hear, touch or feel? Blind faith does not fill me with great hopes for humanity, so if that's the only answer you've got, don't bother answering.

I don't believe the big bang from nothing either. I just find it marginally more believable than God did it. I asked a question that wants a sensible answer, I didn't ask for another question.

TG, that's almost a valid point. But I don't take the existence of Abraham Lincoln on faith. There's sufficient evidence of his existence to prove he lived.
And points about Moses, Jesus and any other person are not proof that Jesus was the son of God.
For all those who've put stuff along the lines of 'how sad you have no faith', I've got plenty.
Not requiring a religious crutch to get me through my day is not the sort of faith I have, thank you very much.
Now instead of picking holes with my question and personal beliefs,
TRY ANSWERING THE QUESTION!!

Janna, dear, I'm not angry. I'm pretty much the most laid back person in the world. And I've got religious friends. Sikhs, Jews, Catholics, Protestants amongst them. Don't worry, they've all had the same question.
I just thought perhaps by some miracle someone on here might have an answer they didn't have.
And the bloke who said I'd pay attention if God turned off the Solar System, I think the tone of my question covered my view on God doing anything. If he even exists, he won't do it. Because then it would prove his existence, and if he'd been going to do that he'd have done it by now, since the world is full of people like me who believe it's a load of bunk.
Religion is the opiate of the masses. Karl Marx.
Was he wrong?

A few little words, and the religious go nuts.
Sorry people, I know well enough that there's no evidence.
I just thought I'd see what you thought, and it turned out I was right.

On the contrary, there is lots of evidence. Moses, Mohammad and many others said that God spoke to them. Many people have reported visits from angels. Jesus and others performed feats witnessed by thousands that cannot be explained by science. Millions of people have reported the power of prayer in their lives.
Honest scientists admit there is a lot we don't know. If the universe began with the big bang, what was here before, and why did it happen? Is there life after death? What is our purpose here on earth? Are we alone, or is there intelligent life elsewhere? What is the purpose of human suffering? Is there any reason why we should be kind to others when selfishness might make us happier?
Science has its limits. We learn more and more, but some of the questions that people most need answers to can't be answered by science.
Think about it this way. Scientists were once punished for declaring that the sun goes around the earth. No religion worries about that anymore. Many religious people believe in evolution. Eventually, they will all accept that just as they do the movement of the sun. But religion will still offer meaning and comfort to people. What's wrong with that?

Why do you think there is "no evidence"? Just because we can't physically see God doesn't prove He does not exist. Can you see the air? Yet your very life depends on something you cannot see. What explains all the laws of physics? What explains the orderly universe?
Do you own a wrist watch? Was it created by an explosion and the parts just happened to come together and it keeps perfect time? Or was it designed and built by some unknown , unseen watchmaker? It takes more faith to believe your theory. The earth itself is proof of an earth maker, don't you think?

I'm agnostic, first of all. I, too, can't see enough evidence for a god to make me believe in a religion but then again I also can't see enough evidence against either. I think they could both be true, but until I get my evidence I'm going to stay sitting on my fence. I think religious people think that the point of religion is having blind faith in something but I'm just not the sort of person who can do that. I think some people just are like that.

It is a shame that you have no faith at all as belief can help you through difficult times in your life. I'm not a religious fanatic, but I do believe in God. I don't need proof, because all I have to do is look within myself & my heart tells me it is true. It doesn't really matter if you don't believe in God, as God believes in you. You also don't need to belong to an organised religion, you will still go to heaven the same as the rest of us whether you are religious or not. Remember though that just because you can't prove something scientifically doesn't mean it's not true. It just means our science is limited. Afterall people used to believe the world was flat but with our modern day science we now know this is wrong.

Wow! Call me a Hindu, or just call me a nut. But, everytime I forgive someone (and actually give them a fresh start in my heart and my justice system), I feel the presence of a supernatural force; call it God, or Karma, or a deep human mutation that feels we will all survive if we stick together.
Well, you might not want to here the rest of my testimonial, especially since I am crying now (crying with a weird happiness that I just know we are all (eventually) going to have a great time after our stay here on Earth.
Whatever you want to call my belief in Jesus' message, and Gandhi's message, and Sidhartha Buddha's message, and Mohammad's message during his early years, and "Ramjet's" message and demeanor, anyway whatever and whyever I feel this way - I have great hopes for all our future. ------- sorry for rambling, I am just an old man who gets reported a lot for chatting.
edit: Sorry, I got carried away and forgot about "proof". Well, what I am talking about is not a circus act for the public, although certain manipulators have tried that. What I am talking about is a very personal "proof", and I am sure there are other ways of finding a personal proof, but I just thought I would share my simplistic method of personal proof?

You have faith also, but you won't admit it.
"In the meantime, why do you believe so readily in something you can't see, hear, touch or feel?"
History books tell me that Abraham Lincoln once walked the earth. Can you see him? Hear him? Touch him? No, but you have evidence that he existed. How do you know that evidence is true?? You believe (have faith) that he existed.
Can you see any of the towns, cities, or landmarks mentioned in the Bible? The Bible tells us these places existed. The Bible tells us that Jesus and the Apostles walked this earth. Do you believe that they existed?
Are history books more reliable than the Bible? Do you believe the history books? There are history books (Josephus is one) from Bible times that state that Jesus walked the earth. Are those history books not reliable?
Do you trust history books that are only a few years old more than those that are thousands of years old??
You have faith in certain things such as gravity, the wind, and I am sure you believe most of what is written in the history books you read in grade school.
If you have faith in these things, why can't you have faith in the Bible?

and yet there are so many things which cannot be explained by science.........
do you have any Idea how unlikely our exsistence is at all
I reccommend reading Bill Bryson's Short History of Nearly Everything.
It's not a Christian book but the section on the universe is quite compelling, It's amazing how many things had to be exactly right, in order for us to be here at all.
although I understand your point of view, it is quite compelling that about 85% of the world's population believes in a greater power than themselves, some call it "God" others "Allah" some do not feel comfortable Assigning any given name to this presence, but they do indeed feel it.
so whatever science "Proves" still does not disprove the existence of God, it merely gives a glimpse into the mechanics involved.
so what if DNA itself is a chain of protein molecules, which is in itself devoid of life, but holds the instructions to make life to replicate and multiply itself many times.
DNA of itself is Dead, but if you supply a living egg that DNA can become a living growing organism
so which came first the DNA or the Egg

Uh-huh.
1400: "Experts" present "scientific" evidence that the world is a flat square.
Bible specifically says its a circle lol... At least they're closer than your "science guys"
Oh, and then just recently...
2000: "Experts" present "scientific" evidence that all computers will crash on new year's eve and the world will come to a sudden end.
Here we are.
Sorr, but false science does not fill me with great hopes for humanity, so if that's the only question you've got, don't bother asking :)

Beastie you can not see the electricity that's driving your PC,but if you unplug it what will happen? What if God unplugs the power that runs our solar system. Will you then believe?you cant see the gas that runs the heater.nor the air that you breath.but somehow you live. You not only question if God exists, you question God's ability to create. No man has ever seen God,because his power is so intense if they look at him they die. Do you want to see God and die? The Devil wants you to believe in God. Why? because then you can believe in him. He wants you to worship him. See this world belongs to Satan. Jesus said my Kingdom is no part of this world. This world is controlled by Satan....All this about a big bang and evolution is just a theory. Read the bible and find out the facts...If the bible is wrong then millions of Muslims,Jews, and Christians are all wrong, because they all read the bible and believe in creation.

No evidence, at least for those who will not see, but there is an awareness .. a knowledge .. an understanding .. a certainty .. ultimately there is a bliss .. you can see hear touch and feel, it's not blind faith at all.
All it requires is a little prayer or meditation and for those lucky few or sufficiently enquiring there is the happiness that passeth all understanding.
Good luck.
