people think that cctv is the most obvious form of surveillance. Well, they're probably right, apart from an officer peering at you and saying "now then now then, whats all this then?". But surely the common domestic television would be the best form of surveillance? Every person in the country (almost) has one and spends a long time watching it. If the Secret Intelligence can use fibre optic surveillance on computers for remote viewing, can't they do the same with a TV? Sort of like a trinted window or mirror?

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Intelligence services do not use 'fibre optic surveillance on computers'. I doubt you even know what that means.

Of course it's possible to plant surveillance devices in a TV set, but physical access is required, as with any other object. TV sets are entirely passive devices; they only receive signals, they do not transmit.

There are already 4 million CCTV camera`s in the UK,the problem is there is not enought people to monitor them.
as you increase the CCTV you need more and more trained staff to deal with them.
If you wanted you can connect camera to a video or DVD recorder and observe later.
I personally like the hobby of watching nature( birds /foxes) in the back garden & watching the sky change.

I would imagine that a certain amount of our TVs have monitors in, and the technology is available I have no doubt of that, have you ever watched 'you have been framed'?, I can think of nothing better our dear leaders would like than a camera watching us at all times, in the future it will be work! watch telly! go to bed! work again. all to pay for our dear masters.
