My CPA filed an extension for doing my business income tax return for 2005 and now for 2006. She keeps saying she will get to it, but doesn't. I am getting an ulcer over it. How can I make her do my taxes? She is impossible to get hold of. Her office manager relays all messages. The CPA is in poor health. What will I do if she can no longer do her job? What can I do to force her to do my back taxes! She has all the paperwork.

Send a certified letter with return receipt requested and ask that they return your documents to you immediately, and then go to another, healthier accountant.

The letter might have mentioned what particular products they're thinking. in case you disagree with their assessment, detect a sturdy CPA except you're a tax professional, and respond to the letter asserting why you disagree. as an occasion, in case you probably did no longer record the sale of a inventory, they might have calculated the tax as in the journey that your foundation became 0, in view that they do no longer understand what it became. in the journey that your foundation became incredibly something extremely on the brink of the sale cost, the tax on the sale may well be very low - or none, or a loss that is deducted out of your different income. So the quantity you owe won't be everywhere close to what they confirmed interior the letter. yet whilst, once you look at what they're thinking, you recognize they're desirable, then initiate determining the place you will come back up with the $7K. And sure, in case you owe and would't pay the finished volume, they had set up a cost plan for you - it is going to cost you interest, and costs additionally. sturdy success.

Get your documentation back from your ailing CPA. If she does not respond by returning your paperwork quickly or she drags her feet then hire a lawyer (one that specializes in tax issues) to send a threatening letter (cost $100 - $200). Make sure you keep copies of all of your attempts to get your taxes done and/or paperwork back. You might be able to sue for penalties, interest and legal fees, if you are hurt by the delay on having your taxes filed.

I would go ask for all my paperwork back and go to another CPA. Since she can't seem to get it done. Its not professional to delay taxes that long just because she's in poor health. If it was that poor she needs to say she can't do it.

Run, don't walk into a new CPA's office. Despite how non responsive your CPA is, you are ultimately responsible for your filing of taxes.

I would walk in the office and ask for my files back because I wanted to take them to another accountant to get my taxes done. If this does not set them to work, go to another accountant.
