Personally I would put them in a crib and or playpen with nothing in it to hurt them or cause possible harm. That way you can have your privacy without worry of the child being hurt, but I would still insist on being quick and not leaving the child unattended for too long...if at all possible use a baby monitor as well

The ideas about using a playpen are good or you could place them in an Exersaucer if they have one. Another idea (if the parents agree) is to take the child with you and set them on their own potty while you potty. I did that with the younger two that I keep and they both were potty trained and wearing their big girl britches very early. You don't have to go into long drawn out explanations of what you're doing but them seeing the process can help to spark their interest. I've found that little kids always want to do things that the big kids or grown ups do, so if the parents are fine with it you could use that to your advantage and help them learn. Good luck.

I run and in home and I have found it easier to put the child in the pack and play with a few toys. I don't like to let the walk around while I'm in the restroom. I do know that there was one time I didn't and he followed me to the restroom(which is really not a big deal at 17 months old) Never put the child in a highchair and give them something to eat they could choke while you are using the potty.

depends if ur a girl or a guy. U cant hide a guys penis when he pees but, a womans vagina is easy to hide, LOL u know what I mean. Girls can just pull a shirt down over. Put him in a play pen, or crib, or you dont have one of those gates that goes all the way around a room? If ur a chick, leave the door open to hear him, or just bring him in with u. Good luck

if you put the baby in a safe place like the play pen or crib while you use the bathroom i dont think the parents would have a problem with that. i wouldnt at least..... as long as all you are doing IS using the bathroom

I just went to the bathroom quickly when my kids were that young! But I don't see anything wrong with bringing the child in the bathroom at that young of an age either.

Go ahead and use the washroom but leave the door open and with the child sitting on the floor.

What I always do when I have to leave the baby for a bit, like go to the bathroom, is just put her in her highchair, give her some cheerios to occupy her or something like that. You could bring the child in the bathroom if you wanted to, that's perfectly Ok too :)

That is truly a dilemma that moms and dads face every day!
Usually they take child into the room with them...
Playpen
plug in a movie
seventeen months is active stage and curiosity
Lock the doors before you go!
