I'm hosting a wine tasting party at my house and so far we've decided to have everyone remove the labels (remembering which wine they bought) so it will be a blind taste test. Everyone will have a little score card and we'll tally up the results. I wanted to think of some fun cagetories outside of best red/white (we're going to give everyone a little prize). The only "fun" category I can think of is "best wine to get lucky with"...any one have any great categories or award ideas I can use for wine?

I'm serving some cheese, fruit, dark chocolate, and some bread with spiced olive oil for dipping.

Anything I've forgotten? There are about 12 people coming....

You may have an easier time covering the label w/ a bandana or felt or even paper than trying to peel off a label... folks may want to read the label if they find one they like.

How about:
"Best wine to drink if it were the last wine on earth"
"Best wine to serve with hot dogs and tater tots"
"Best wine to serve to a loved one in the Italian coutnryside, overlooking the Meditteranean" (sp?)
"Best wine to choke a horse" (for bad wines!)

It might be fun to have guests bring an index card with a description of the wine on the card, and see if people can match the wine with the description.

You can often find a description on the winery's website, at the wine shop, or at a site that sells wine.

It sounds like fun!

Check out a wine store for good wine. There will be someone there to help you and you should be able to taste the wine. Tapas are always good wine tasting foods.

Best Dessert Wine, Best Wine for a Summer Barbeque, Best Wine for a heavy meal, Driest White/Red, Fruitiest White/Red, Oakiest Chardonnay??? Your food choices are good. Don't forget to number the bottles so you know in the end which was which!
