I caught my dog a couple days ago trying to eat a small gardner snake he found around the patio. He now has terrible diarrhea. He is also notorious from eating his own poop. Last time he had diarrhea like this was when I bought him, and he contracted coccidia from the other puppies in the kennel.

His diet has not been changed in the last month, so it can't be that. It is either the coccidia came back from eating his own poop, or he ate a snake and got sick. Some quick advice is helpful!

He has been tested by the vet. They didn't find anything. It is now day 4 of being sick.

We feed him Beniful dog food, could it be that? He's almost down to the bottom of the bag, so you would think he would have been sick eating it right away?

You might want to have the vet test him for Giardia. That's another lovely "hershey squirt" disease.

I don't think he'd eat a garter snake. My Yorkie found that out last week when she cornered one and tried to pick it up. The snake lets out this gross white slimy stuff, that tastes & smells really bad. She was shaking her head and drooling heavily. But otherwise was fine. Best take him to the vet

Check with your vet. Unless there is a vet technician or something on Yahoo answers, your vet is the best to check with. If it gets really bad, take him to a pet hospital!

If he's getting sick he needs to be taken to a vet, no matter what is causing it.
