What to Expect when You're Expecting & What to Expect the First Year are pretty good. They're in every bookstore's parenting section, and at amazon.com. Look here, too: http://www.whattoexpect.com/home/what-to-expect-bookstore.aspx

I also loved The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy by Vicki Iovine. She had 4 kids in 5 years without losing her mind, and I adore her. She knows what being a mommy is all about. Plus she's actually been pregnant 4 times!! It's very humorous and gives you info none of the other books offer. It's not a medical textbook by any means, but it was a HUGE comfort to me when I was having my first baby.

I recommend you take the parenting classes that Babies R Us offers. They are fantastic! They boosted our confidence and were a big comfort to my husband and me. Take a tour of the local hospitals labor & delivery wards to see which one you like best, if you have a choice in the matter look at more than one. If you are assigned to one, still go take the tour.

Like most first time moms, the most fear and anxiety I had was due to the unknown. If you read everything you can, attend parenting classes, and tour the hospital you should feel more confident.

Best of luck to you, sugar. This Yahoo! Answers forum is great. There are a lot of nice Moms with experience that can help you. Now go have a happy pregnancy and take care!!

I'm not sure who the author is but if you ask at a book store they will know what you are talking about. These books are a series and the first one is called....."What to Expect When You're Expecting" It tells you month by month what things you may experience and answers a lot of questions you may have. There are also more for when the baby is born and toddler years and so on. Try it out, i loved it.

I read The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy, which is really funny but it isn't that informational. The best I ever read and would recommend that every pregnant woman read is My Pregnancy, week by week. It tells you how you and your baby change every single week! It is jam packed full of info and has illustrations to show you your belly and how big the baby is. I loved this book and used it for both of my girls. Later, when your baby is born, you can read Your Baby's First Year, week by week which tells you all about what your baby should be doing, how big they are, and what to expect at each doc. visit. These books are awesome!!!

The Happiest Baby on the BLock is good by a Dr. Karp. The Babies Owners Manual is good too. As for pregnancy, the "what to expect books" you can usually find these used.
