First, the stuff written about Jesus was written decades after he died, if he existed at all.

Secondly, the Quran is just a loose rehash of various Bible stories with a few mentions of local squabbles of the time.

All religions are just organized superstition. Allah (or God) doesn't really exist.

Circular problem in this question.

Aramaic is an older language than English. Consequently, when Aramaic was translated into Greek, the word for God was translated into Greek. When Greek gave it's parts to Latin, Latin translated the Greek word for God into Latin.

English borrows much from Latin, as a partially Latinate, partially Germanic language.

Consequently, when English translators want to translate ancient Hebrew into modern English, or Aramaic into English, or Aramaic into Arabic (it's descendant language), they have to use the original word.

Jesus also spoke of bread. Are you going to be surprised that the Aramaic word for bread means the same as the English one? Not all bread is the same, but it's a simple word.

So is God.

The fact that he spoke Aramaic does not mean that he used the Aramaic name for God. Since he was Jewish, he would have used the Jewish name for God which would be Yahweh. It's the same as someone in English using the word god. They can also use the word deity, etc. Or if they're pagan names like Gaia. But what he called God isn't the important part. His teachings were not the same as Muhammad, so he wasn't a Muslim.

I can;t believe people actually think Jesus spoke English -- it wasnt even a language then. \

Anyways, just to add to this, in Aramaic, the name for god is ilah (pretty close to Allah phonetically, wouldnt you say?)

El Allah was the Arabian Moon God just as Bel was for the Babylonians and Marduk was for the Assyrians.
When Jesus worshipped the Father,He was worshipping YHVH. which translate Jehovah.
Jesus indeed spoke Aramaic as well as Hebrew. When He called to God on the cross(to fulfill Psalm 22) He used the Hebrew word Eloi.Which is God,not Allah.

You haven't proven anything. But, I'll give you credit for a convincing argument.

Yes, Jesus spoke Aramaic. Yes, Jesus prayed to Allah.

If we have any Arabic Christians in the forum, please tell our audience what 'God' translates to in your bible. (Hint: Allah)

Therefore, you have not convinced me of anything concerning Islam.

My fellow Christians, please stop referring to Allah as a false god. You only show your ignorance, which we Christians get accused of enough even when we don't deserve it.

mommanuke, Jesus would not have addressed God as Yahweh. Jews from the time of Moses to today consider it blasphemous to use God's proper name. That is why the high priest tore his robe when Jesus answered him "I AM" (translation: Yahweh). Jesus, like all other Jews of the time, used words like, Lord; God; or descriptors like Almighty when referring to God.

Millie, not all pre-Islam Arabs were pagan. Many were Christian.

Jesus did speak Aramaic because of where he was from and the language in that area. The word in Aramaic that means "God" in our language is "Allah". God has many names. He is also Jehovah, Almighty, Creator, King and there are many more. The fact that God is "Allah" in one language and just happens that there is an "allah" in the muslim religion doesn't mean that we are talking about the same God here.

Yes, Jesus spoke Aramaic because it was in use around Judea on his times, but STOP DREAMING, he was a JEW, you like it or not.

BTW, Islam was NOT founded by Ismail, son of Abraham, Islam was founded by the Prophet Muhammad in 623 AD.

Before the Prophet Muhammad, today's Muslim were all PAGANS.

And, Jesus was not a pagan.
