I feel the same way...I have a lot of unanswered questions, like why is this hapenning to me? I first experienced it 1 year ago while driving back from work, on a busy road (under construction)... I remember being very frustrated about the traffic being backed up...I feel an attack every now and then, I went to the doctor and they put me on medication, right now I take Wellburtin XL 300mg...it works better than Zoloft which gave me dizziness and all kinds of wierd side effects...I felt so lonely, like I was the only one in the world having this... I feel a little better knowing that somebody shares my feelings...
DO NOT GET SCARED WHEN THIS HAPPENS TO YOU!!
Try to relax, tell yourself you are OK and you are NOT DYING,
deep breaths (use a paper bag that helps you breath at a regular pace), if you drive try to pull over in a parking area. Tell your Dr. about Wellbutrin, this really helps and it is not a SSRI type drug...(by the way most of my attacks happen while I drive...)Good Luck and feel better!

I have anxiety and panic attacks as well and have only had them for a couple months. I know exactly how you feel sometimes I panic so much I feel like I can't move yet feel desperate for help. You can go on certain medications such as I have, which have helped some, you can also try meditation and yoga which I also do and it does help. There is also a drink called Monavi made with an amazon fruit and while I haven't tried it for my panic attacks a friend of mine had severe panic attacks so much so she had to be homeschooled and she tried Monavi and it did get rid of her attacks. There are also several books on panic and anxiety. You can also talk to a counselor or psychologist. It is a physical problem so don't think that it is all in your mind and that there is something very mentally wrong with you. Just know you are not alone and yes one can get over them it may take time or with some of the other suggestions above or it may simply just disappear one day. I hope I have helped in some way and I wish you the best of luck!

I tried loads of different medicines and got no results. Then I found a doctor that helped me find out what triggered my panic attacks and to try to deal with those things individually. I take Lamictal now and that is a huge help, along with alot of talking to myself: Breath in one two three four five breath out one two three four five. It is ok to calm down. Just keep breathing and think about something that makes me happy.
I felt silly the first time I did that, but realized not only did it work for me, but noone has to know that is what you are doing, so why feel silly?
I have one thing that I have to do at work every day that freaks me out really bad, but now that I know it is a trigger, whenever I am on my way to do that job at work I tell myself it was fine yesterday and it will be fine tomorrow. And I look for the positive in it(that is the only part of my day where I get to be alone, that is the positive I find in that). I hope I was able to help.

That's what a panic attack is. The first time I had one I was working as a special ed teacher for autistic kids and one night it started and lasted for 72 hours. I thought I was going to die.
See but here's the thing, I didn't understand what was happening till I went to the hospital and they told me what was up. Once I knew that I wasn't having heart trouble and that my heart was fine, I could deal with it. You need to find a way to deal with it. Don't be afraid to use meds to get through it. I took Paxil for about 6 months and I haven't had panic attacks in more than 5 years.
It is quite scary, but knowing what is going on should comfort you. You are not going to die from a panic attack.

I have panic disorder and trust me, you are not having a heart attack. The symptoms are anxiety driven. This is a very common disorder in our society and there is plenty of help out there so I suggest you speak to your doctor about getting some form of treatment. Counseling and sometimes medication are very effective in treating the symptoms of panic disorder.

Well Darlin', I have had panic attacks since I was 16 y/o, and now I am 46, so I guess you won't die, although it sure feels as though you will. Find help asap, get some meds and move past it before it becomes too dibilitating.

Stop all intake of caffine! Look into
http://www.osho.com/shop/audiobookclub/introduction.cfm
This will give you a different way of looking at life and how to deal with those anxieties....
My stroies are many and lengthy but I have found Zen and no caffine to be effective. Keep a calendar of your anxiety you make be on a shedule with the moon pahse or your own monthly timing.

I get these attacks alot. You have to try to avoid stressful siutations. Also listen to relaxtion music. Sound of waterfalsl or ocean waves. Try breathing excerises. Takl yourself out of it if you can. Call someone close to you and talk about anything to get your mind of your breathing and maybe you wont have it. I am sorry i know how scary these panic attacks can be. avoid caffeine and sugar. also dont drink or smoke anything, godd bless you
