I think that life had a meaning during evolutionary periods. If you look at every species is sole purpose is to survive. Even if it means dying species have sex or reproduce just so it means the survival of its species. I think that during starter times that was the purpose or meaning of our life as humans. Once we became the top of the food chain and had no predators to threaten our lives we start to see the forming of tools, buildings, eventually politics and religion. I believe that our purpose was to survive, and we accomplished that too well. Now people have the luxury of sitting around and questioning the meaning :)

There is no rule, out lives are what we make it, why are we here, evolution brought us here and we need to do the best we can with our lives whilst on this earth. Just remember the smallest event can have the biggest impact on earth, what if Adolf Hitlers great great great great great great great great great great grandfather was killed by accident would there have been a world war 2. We need to find our own self worth and enjoy life as much as we can when we can

Life means converting chemical energy to mechanical energy. Some ancient people carved humongous stone statues. Some people wrote music and books. Some people invented new tools and medicine to make other people's life a lot easier. Some people left their names in history.

How dare you Christian say atheists' life has no meaning? You say life is to serve God. How many Christians does it take to serve one god really? What does God want you to do other than producing carbon dioxide and manure?

Always a cool question to answer!

Perhaps we are a giant science experiment?
Kind of like from the book "HitchHikers guide to the galaxy"?
Where we were planted by other beings.
Created from scratch... (DNA to us, but LEGO to them) Perhaps we were not the first experiment to exist on this planet. Dinosaurs were a big experiment... millions of years ago.. but failed!
Failed miserably, such that they had to come back and start all over again???
Perhaps... every 2000 or 10 000 years these other beings come to check up on us?
Throw a curve ball? help us in a way? Confuse our minds... so much that we had to build the Pyramids?
Heads on Easter island ?
Aztec monuments/pyramids?
Stone henge?

Eventually, we will end up whipping out ourselves...
sort of like the game... AGES OF EMPIRES.
or monopoly... where there is only one winning team?!?

I think the meaning of life is to progress through its many stages, learning as much as you can, and slowly realizing the true nature of things, so that you can use your perspective on life to benefit other people, and eventually end up somewhere where you can depart the earth free of fear and full of the knowledge of everything.

There can only be a meaning behind life if a intellectual being made the universe which I'm not convinced is the case so I don't believe there is one.

there is no meaning to life. Life in itself is just part of the whole process of how the circle works, people just like to believe that because we have some form of thought to ourselves ( and so how could any other creature be it plant or animal possibly be as good as us ) have some sort of meaning to it

I think it's different for everyone, the meaning for my life is to see as much of the worlds and learn as much as possible in what little time I have.

The meaning of life is the one you give to it. Simple.
We are one, the God is within, we can search outside for the meaning of it all but you won't find it, because my friend the meaning of life (your life) is a personal experience that only happens within....
