Do you agree with this answer to the natural/divine nature of marriage question?
Marriage was instituted by the Pope to curb the syphilis epidemic being caused by all the "fuckadillo" that was going on.
Source(s):
Yes, that's where the word comes from. Thanks Dr Weber!
Marriage is much more than a divine covenant, state sanction or contractual agreement. It is a promise made by a man to honor and protect a woman and the children she bares though his or her entire lifetime. It is a guarantee to be together forever. Right Babe? And, no…I’m not a Christian, in the modern sense of the word.
And...God offered Adam many "helpers" in the garden. He rejected the goat, cow and jackass, holding out for a real woman. Please read Genesis before spouting scripture.

Number 329,243 Atheist, monogamous, heterosexual - reporting for duty!

The Pope didn't come up with the idea of marriage, dear heart. Hell, you can come up with that by reading the bible even.

I'm intrigued by your opening line, but I'll answer the question.
I don't agree. Marriage was not instituted by the Pope, for any reason. Clearly, the Papacy would not have been required to ban it for priests (not something they did right away, mind you), if the entire thing had been invented by them.
Not that many people understood what syphilis was then, either.
Folks, a quick note. He's not saying this is what he believes. I think he's quoting someone else, this "Dr. Weber", and asking people's opinions.

particularly? i presumed you have been smarter than this. :-( i understand you realize the respond, you merely want to communicate it. the explanation why there are somewhat greater women human beings than adult males is with the help of transformations in start and dying numbers - of course. pondering each and everything, "GOD" has made issues incredibly even, there isn't something like seventy 5% male and 25% women human beings, etc. The 40 8%/fifty two% chop up is very even. Now think approximately that some human beings on no account marry, die, grow to be gay, etc. and those numbers are incredibly plenty even. So definite, I do think of that monogamus relationships are our layout and the numbers easily mirror that, yet on the same time we are given a decision as to what existence path we can take. and those few probabilities are those that makeup for the minority transformations.

I'm an atheist, and also married. But I think the word 'married' means much more today than even 40-50 years ago or more. Its more of a generic term now. My wife and I 'married' in a completely religion-free ceremony. No religious terms were used at all. To us, marriage had nothing to do with faith, god, the Divine or ANY religious aspect. It had everything to do with the fact that we loved one another and wanted to make a promise of love and devotion and honesty.

Not sure what your point is, Peanut.
Marriage was NOT created by God.
Adam and Eve is an allegorical story.
I can think of way more than 9 atheistic, heterosexual, monogamous people just on my contact list...

Do you understand all of the words you use here? There are many more such people than 9. Please, express your question more clearly...if you have one, and I shall try to answer it. Are you trying to insult atheists, monogamous people or heterosexuals or all of these groups? Heterosexuals marry the opposite sex, i.e. men marry women. Did you know this?

Well, there are more atheistic monogamous heterosexuals in America than there are sinless Christians. But I already knew that.
