The idea of "offering one's cheek" to a smiter is also seen in Lamentations 3:30, in which context the narrator is rationalizing suffering and describing the proper way to bear it.
Also Socrates, in 399BC, said "One should never do wrong in return, nor mistreat any man, no matter how one has been mistreated by him.”

Can you find the idea of "turn the other cheek", give evil people a second chance, "bless those who curse you", feed those who hate you, and "love your enemies" in other faiths?
These ideas do not seem to be found in Judaism at the time. Being nice to people in general is found in every religion, but I don't think that any previous religious leader tried to say specifically that evil could be overcome with kindness.

To me the reveolutionary thing was the focus on being "other-centered". Meaning that selfishness and its desires have no place in the Christian faith. The thing that can't be found in any other faith probably doesn't fall under "morals", but it's the idea that nothing I do, none of my deeds or actions can save me. That salvation is through faith alone. That concept is exclusive to the Christian faith.

You always learned that an "eye for an eye" was the answer, but I tell you to love your enemies and pray for them. If some one forces you into service for one mile, give him two; if they ask for your cloak, give him the shirt off your back.
How many times should we forgive those who wrong us; seven times? No. Seventy times seven times. (meaning always)
Moses granted divorces because of your stiff necks but I say that what God has joined, let no man break apart. If so, you would be guilty of adultery and your spouses adultery.
Those are just a few.

Jesus tought that we are far from God and their is no other way to God (Salvation) but through HIM.
ANd that God loved us that much that He gave His only son to Die in our place to cleanse us of our sins...
That's a lesson in love too.

Don't kill anybody and love everyone has been around forever. Jesus didn't teach us anything. Wait he did teach us not to preach what we believe or we will get killed.
