My stupid fiance is not Catholic, and therefore my church won't do wedding banns in the newsletter and they won't give him Communion at our weddign service, although I am receving it. I think it looks disorganized, so I decided he should convert. He doesn't want to, but he has to, otherwise were through. What is the best way to persuade him so I don't look selfish, just religious?

First, don't marry him. You are not ready. I know because my fundamentalist wife tried to force me to leave the Catholic Church (kinda the opposite of what you are doing). She thought after we were married, she would be able to force me to do whatever she wanted because I don't believe in divorce. Well, she was wrong. I refused to leave the Church and she had to divorce me against my will (I had no problem getting a declaration of nullity).

Second, don't find another fiance. You are not ready to get married to anybody if you think you can force them to convert.

Third, grow-up. You sound like a thirteen-year-old.

Fourth, you are selfish and definitely not religious. You should work on fostering your relationship with Jesus and forget about men for a while.

You don't want to "look" religious either Dear. And you really can't call your B.F. stupid for not agreeing with you. God tells us In the Scriptures that "YOU" must be equally Yoked! (Believe the same) Did you not know this before you became engaged? It would be Much better if you "ask" Jesus to Live in "Your" Heart, then Let the Holy Spirit work on Him. Now, you have Salvation in Christ, NOT A RELIGION. Salvation is the Real Thing. I Pray you both will come to Jesus, and Be Married In His Presence, and LIVE FOR HIM! (Not Your church, or It's Rules) Please think about it.

You want him to be Catholic so that your wedding doesn't look "disorganzied?"

You can't force anyone to become something they're not led by God to become. Why would you want him to go through the motions if it's not in his heart? It's as though he's lying to God and everyone else just to save face for the wedding!

And why would you call him stupid? Are you sure you're ready to get married? Mutual respect is criticcal to make a marriage work.

i wouldn't want to be catholic if all they did was try to change the people that they claim to love and want to be with. you are being selfish. is he trying to change your religion, NO. if you really loved him you wouldn't care about all the newsletters and commumion. you knew all along who he was and you still said yes to marrying him and now, because you think things look disorganized you want him to change, that's wrong of you. if you are going to be that way just get it over with he deserves better then you!

Why are you calling the man you love 'stupid'? Besides, you can't force someone to convert. Have you considered using another church?

it is not necessary for your fiancee to convert. all that is required is if there are children .. the male child must be baptized as catholic...........check with your local catholic priest........in the meantime say one OUR FATHER, and 3 HAIL MARYS.........

You're right. It does look disorganized. As such, I've decided that you, not he, should convert.
