All throughout history. Seen some of this in the history channel the other day.

Yet people say our government is evil because of the the few times where some of our government officials went against the rules & were accused of torture? Yet the torture accused of didn't compare to other evil rulers in history & what terrorist do today to people they kidnap.

Do you think accusing US or our President or Governement or the West is a smoke-screen so the terrorists can get away with it?

Numbskull, Torture should never happen. I just see that if US were found guilty of torturing (even much less than other evil rulers have in the past) it was because they are going against American rules. And they got caught. But there isn't a place where US puts prisoners (terrorists) & shove bamboo sticks up their fingers, or put them in boiling hot water to carve their skin off, etc... The US allows techniques of interrigation on wannabetorturers. And the illegal acts got found out. And that is good. But, we need to find out where the terrorist, etc. are. The terrorist are the ones who are getting away with murder & torturing who they think is enemies of Islam, etc.

George Bush didn't rob any banks.

Nor are we (US) torturing terrorist right now. I don't call interragation torture. Yes some individuals in our Government or military have resorted to some of the terrorist tactics. But, this is against American Policy.

For any and all of their perceived faults, at least in the USA and many western countries, you get some semblance of accountability through the media, etc. The media is far from perfect, as is the government but at least you can stand up and criticize what you find unjust without much fear of violent reprisal from an extremist group or the government.

The only reason other people can complain about western actions is usually because they saw it on western media, otherwise most of it wouldn't be heard of.

I'm sure there are many moderate muslims in areas who just aren't heard from at rallies or on the news because of their fear of reprisal in some of the more extremist states in the middle east.

It is because we claim not to torture, complain about other country's human rights abuses, then torture people ourselves.

Other countries may be torturers, but we are torturers and hypocrites. We used to have the higher moral ground, but this administration blew that away. Hopefully, the next president can do something to help shore up our position.

1. Its not just accusations; there are pictures to prove it.
2. Our President is fighting a war for oil and sending our heroic men and women as fodder for his machine.
3. And no, it is NOT a smoke screen; when our very senators and congressmen are trying to stop the war and the president overrides every motion made to try to bring our men and women home.
4. You have to fix your own backyard; why traipse into someone else's and try to force your government style on them. What we are doing is no better than the other regimes who have invaded others and taken over.

We are the good guys and shouldn't be doing stuff like that. Its not right when other governments do it so that's no justification for us . Like my mother use to say "If all the other kids jumped off a bridge would you jump too"

Imagine this: George robs a bank. Bill robs three banks and Ed robs five banks.

Does the fact that Bill and Ed rob more banks than George make George innocent of bank robbery?

Are you for torture? Is that what you're trying to say? Figure it out, torture is wrong and it DOESN'T WORK.

Not all governments are stupid. Just Bush. Ok so he isn't "stupid" but he is a loose cannon, and has serious ego issues. I have an issue with that.
