I thought anyone from North America attends school where we learn about this stuff.
Or is it that its simply convenient for Christians to ignore history because they don't like it the way they ignore, or twist, the parts of the bible they don't like?

How can you not get it? Have you not read about the Inquisition? The Witch Trials? The Crusades? They were all started by Christians, people, because the Christians didn't like the way other people were worshipping and wanted to control them.

No Scott, the bible is not a history book. Its a religion book. Having SOME of the names and locations correct in the bible doesn't make it a history book.

Christians who insult those of other faiths [like Muslims and Jews] deserve the literal or figurative *** whooping that comes their way. I've seen crap in my 50 years from "Muhammed raped little girls" to "If you don't speak in tongues you'll burn in Hell". I sometimes wonder when the Christian insanity will come to an end, but cynically know that it won't end until Christianity destroys the entire world with its totalitarian dogmas. Compared to idiots like St. Paul and the Church Fathers like Tertullian or St. Augustine, the wisdom of the East like Buddha or Lao Tzu comes like a fresh scent of roses across a cesspool or slough of ignorance and hypocrisy. Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Taoists for all their faults never came up with the insanity of something like the Holy Inquisition where a five year old girl could be burned at the stake as a witch because a farmer's crops failed. There is nothing in any other religion like the insanity of thinking ones eternal destination is not determined by what you say or do, but by mere belief? I can believe that the moon is made of cheese. What does that do? Nothing at all. I can believe Jesus died for my sins. What does that do? Nothing but reiterate 2000 years [almost] of propaganda. Belief does influence behavior, but ultimately it is the behavior that matters. And I'm sick to death of "You are an atheist [or agnostic, or Buddhist, or Hindu, or Muslim or Jew], therefore, you are doomed to eternal damnation." As J. J. Rousseau suggested in his Social Contract "No religion that is intolerant is to be tolerated." Enough of this stuff. Time for some serious smackdown and payback for 2000 years of Christian abuse of the rights of the REST of humanity. You know what's funny?. Only 200 years have freethinkers been able to speak, teach, write freely and in this short 200 years compared to the 1800 year Christian monopoly on Western Civilization, we've WON and WON big time. We the David have beaten the Goliath of Christianity. Pretty good record for so few warriors going against an army of over a billion people!. The One True Faith is more and more looking like the One Big Fraud it is. The Christian monopoly on truth is OVER. Now the game is fair and you are losing and losing bad.

You cant learn why atheists hate believers in school. You can only learn HOW to. And thats because our schools are now dominated by secular liberal philosophy and the supreme court is happy to back them up with their liberal acitivist judges approving things like slavery and abortion.
Precisely what history are we trying to ignore? At least if youre going to make accusation, you could be more specific. Lets take a look at some of that history!
"As one writer put it, “Leaders such as Stalin and Mao persecuted religious groups, not in a bid to expand atheism, but as a way of focusing people’s hatred on those groups to consolidate their own power.” Of course I agree that murderous regimes, whether Christian or atheist, are generally seeking to strengthen their position. But if Christian regimes are held responsible for their crimes committed in the name of Christianity, then atheist regimes should be held accountable for their crimes committed in the name of atheism. And who can deny that Stalin and Mao, not to mention Pol Pot and a host of others, all committed atrocities in the name of a Communist ideology that was explicitly atheistic? Who can dispute that they did their bloody deeds by claiming to be establishing a “new man” and a religion-free utopia? These were mass murders performed with atheism as a central part of their ideological inspiration, they were not mass murders done by people who simply happened to be atheist. Like Stalin and Mao, Hitler illustrates the point made by both Dostoyevsky and earlier John Locke: when God is excluded, then it is not surprising when morality itself is sacrificed in the process and chaos and horror is unleashed on the world. So it has been in our time, and all the elaborate evasions produced by today’s atheists cannot change what their anti-religious kinsmen did, cannot change the grim facts of history. "

Isn't the Bible a history book too? It has come under far greater scrutiny than any other "historical" document and has passed. That being said, I'm a Christian and have a degree in European History. Is that enough for you? Which part of history has been ignored, please enlighten us.

True christians don't "twist" the Bible, since the Bible interprets itself. Neither do we ignore history or hate atheists. We undertand that God gave man a free will. Love that is not free is not real. Man is therefore free to accept God, or reject Him. If Atheists choose to reject God, that is certainly their choice.

If all they have are these silly straw man arguments, there will be a point where even they realize they're fighting a lost cause.
In Western Europe only 7% frequently visits a church these days. North America is slowly catching up, I give it one generation, maybe two.

So we all supposedly learned in History classes why Atheists hate Christians? Maybe I was absent that day.
The reason Atheists hate Christians is because they feel threatened and insecure in their beliefs.
