Does the litter box have a lid on it? I have a cat who quit using the litter box, but when we took the lid off, she was fine. Of course, there are also the obvious, make sure it's cleaned regularly and so on. Also, if your cat goes in a certain place or couple of places, by now that may be "her place (s)". You can place aluminum foil over that place. Cats typically don't like the sound of it when they step down, and it acts as a deterant.

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!
Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

The most common reason a cat stops using its litter box is because the litter box is dirty - from the cat's viewpoint, not yours. Cats often react to any type of stress by suddenly urinating or defecating outside the litter box. Because the litter box is dirty - from the cat's viewpoint, not yours. Cats often react to any type of stress by suddenly urinating or defecating outside the litter box. The stress may be caused by a new cat in the neighborhood; children home on vacation; too many cats in the house; your going away on vacation or a new piece of furniture. Urinary tract problems also cause cats to urinate in places other than the litter box. Any sudden change in elimination habits should be discussed with your veterinarian.
Your cat does not simply need a litter box - she needs a clean litter box with fresh litter. Your cat will be inhibited from using her litter box if it smells of urine. Think about it from the cat's viewpoint. When she soils your dining room carpet, the area is immediately and thoroughly cleaned. Given the choice between a regularly cleaned place and a litter box that gets changed only once or twice a week, your cat will naturally prefer the carpet.

You can could be peeing everywhere for several reasons.... 1st. It could be that you need to clean the litter box more often. 2nd. It could be that you cat is sick. 3rd. Your cat could be upset about something and it acting out. So, What you need to discover is if there have been any changes in your cat's life to upset them and if so correct them. If not, I would recommend taking a trip to the vet's office.
ps. The disciplining that you are doing to try and make her stop could be making the problem worse.

When cats have a urinary tract infection they will pee indiscriminately, sometimes they will squat right in front of you and pee to show you that something is wrong. If your cat hasn't been checked by a vet please do so.
OR
You may not be keeping the litter clean enough for her or perhaps the litter is scented. You might try switching litter brands and be sure to clean the box often.

first you need to clean the litterbox...and that does not mean just empty the dirty litter...take it outside and put TSP in it sprinkle it on the bottom....Trisodium Phosphate...always use gloves as this stuff will eat the skin right off your hands....you can buy it @ any store....the label is TSP.....swish it around and let it sit for about an hour...then rinse it very well and dry it then fill it with about 4 to 8 inches of fresh litter....PLASTIC is POUROUS and they can still smell the bad smells....I do this once a week and clean the litter box of droppings everyday.....clean the scoop also....at least every 6 to 8 months buy a new box.....if this does not work then there is a problem in her urinary tract......I myself use baby wipes on her paws and bottom also tail...CATS DO NOT LIKE THE SMELL OF THEIR POOP OR URINE!....i HAVE TAUGHT MY CAT TO USE THE TOILET (NOW IF I CAN JUST TEACH HER TO FLUSH IT) I WILL BE OK!....its true!....Good Luck!

First, are you cleaning the box daily and changing the litter weekly? If not, that could be a problem.
Also, its possible you cat may have a bladder or kidney infection, to rule that out take your cat in for a urine analysis. If none of these suggestions work, talk with your vet, they may have other ideas.

If you are keeping the litter box clean, then get a different brand or type of litter. She obviously doesn't want to use the kind you presently have for her for some reason.

Is the litterbox clean? Usually that is why cats dont pee in it. Also, what do you mean by discipline? Never hit a cat that makes things worse they learn to fear you. Has there been any changes lately? New pet, new child? I have never had that problem and I have two cats.
