If you are in your teens then chances are that you are experiencing patellofemoral syndrome pain. It happens quite often in girls in their teens. The reason it only hurts with ballet is that ballet forces more stress on your knees than any other activity that you do. I would suggest that you have you go see an orthopedic doctor to assess your knees and then get a referral for physical therapy.

you are placing a great deal of stress on the muscles surrounding the knee. When you dance your muscles are screaming stop. You need to take a break of at least one week to give your muscles time to recover.

Take a hot bath with 2c. of dissolved Epsom salts. Soak for 30 minutes. The Epsom salts will help eliminate the lactic acid that forms on the muscles from over exertion.

Massage an analgesic cream into the sore muscles. I find the best cream for pain is “Blue Emu,” You can read more about this cream at http://www.blue-emu.com/

Dehydration can cause severe pain in the muscles. I recommend you drink purified water mixed with mineral water 50/50. This will replace the minerals that are exiting your body continuously.

I suggest that adults and children drink 40 ounces of water per 100 pounds of body weight every day. Realize that exercise, ambient temperature, and state of health affect the water needs of your body. One tip for Dancers : it is healthier to drink a sports drink or water than fruit juice, soda, coffee, or milk during competition or active training periods.

500mg of calcium and magnesium, taken twice daily, can help with diminishing the pain.

undue stress on them....your knees are very very important..i would give them some rest they need and maybe see a doctor to make sure there is no damage..iceing them after you dance will also help but it sounds like you may have weakened them......

hey there, depends how old are you? you could have the start of arthritis, or you could of pulled or strained muscles, tendons. I would not let it go for to long, which could make it get worse.
