What are you afraid of? Is your room secure? Do you live alone? Are you afraid for your safety, or are you thinking about the problems you face at work and school? When you lie in bed you should think positive thoughts and come up with plans to solve the problems, but not obsess over the negative aspects.

I've felt the same way for quite a while. I, myself, am not sure exactly why I am afraid to fall asleep mentally. Physically, stress and anxiety play a roll in sleeping and eating patterns. Whether you think it's serious or not, it's in your best intuition to seek help from a doctor.

More info. please! It could be a fear of what is happening around you while a sleep - maybe you fear you are not safe. Find the source of why you are feeling this way and then go from there. While laying there you must be thinking of things - listen to your thoughts are you just having racing thoughts that are not allowing you to fall a sleep? Remember that when in the dark what God told you in the light! There are no differences in your surroundings when it is dark or light.

I agree with anxiety. There's plenty of meds out there to help with this and no shame in taking them.
