The term 'children of God' is used too losely these days. You're not a TRUE child of God unless you accept Him as your personal saviour. Only then do you become a child of God and belong to His familiy.
By judgmental, what do you mean? Do you mean by telling a homosexual that what he is doing is disobeying God's law? Or by telling someone that abortion is against what God wants? If so, that is not being judgmental, but a Christian expressing what we know as truth because of God's Word, the Holy Bible.
A lot of people take the above statements as judgmental, the same as the statement, 'You're going to hell if you don't accept Jesus Christ as your personal saviour and repent of all of your sins'. But, again, this isn't judgmental to us.....Just another teaching from our Bible. This is what we believe to be true.
Now, if you mean other mean and hateful things that have nothing to do with the Bible, then yes, it's judgmental and NO, Christians are not supposed to be judgmental. The Bible says, 'Judge not, lest ye be judged' and we're also to obey that commandment. :) Christ would never crush someone's spirit. Some people are just mean spirited. And some people profess to be Christians when they are not and don't really know the meaning of the word. Going to church doesn't make people Christians any more than me stading in my garage makes me a car. There's more to it than that. :)
I'm sorry that you've been hurt. But, please don't think that all Christians are like that. It only takes on 'crazy' person to make all of a race, religion, etc. look bad......And it leaves a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths and they turn from them forever.....But, I'm here to tell you that not all Christians are that way. :)
Hope that helps. God bless,
Karen

Christians are judgmental because we are called to distinguish light from dark and to reject what is evil. We see both Gods truth and love for your fellow man as essential components to faith.
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. -Romans 12:9
We are not all Gods children. We are all creations of God, we are not all his children.
This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother. -1 John 3:10
Everybody thinks Jesus was always warm and fuzzy and thats not true. If he wasnt rebuking his own disciples for lack of faith, he was rebuking Israel, or condemning the teachers of the law. Yet when he came across faith, it very much pleased him and he was careful to take note of it.
The point is not that we should run around destroying each other. But all too often I hear people like you cite examples of Christians being "unfair and cruel" by simply calling things like homosexuality, or other world religions evil. Yet sometimes some believers take things too far and attack the person and not the argument and the Bible specifically teaches to love the sinner, hate the sin. It says to hate WHAT is evil, not WHO is evil.

It really depends on what you mean by judgmental and how it is done. If your child was misbehaving and you loved them so much you did not want to confront what they did wrong- that would not be good for the situation, and not good for your child either. Now as a Christian, first of all , I am going to say, that I have to look deep within my self first to see in if there is any offensive way within me, before I could ever think of looking outside myself for something wrong with someone else. When I see someone outwardly sinning, continually, what I do first is pray- then I may go to them- however I do not point a finger- I say, I too have fallen short of God's glory- but I have experienced the grace of God, and that is what I want for the other person. It is to restore not to condemn. Christ- loved to spend time with those who are sinners- he saw the "religious pharisees" starting to thrown stones at the woman caught in adultery. Jesus asked if there was anyone without sin, that they could cast the first stone- everyone dropped the stones and ran away. However what did Jesus say to the woman- "no one here, go away?" NO He said, "where are your accusers, but GO AND SIN NO MORE. Conviction through love, not manipulation or cruelty. We are called to be light in a dark world- not to cast stones.

It's not just some Christians that are judgmental. I'm afraid this is a universal weakness that transcend cultures and religion.
We all have our own prejudices. For most of us, these prejudices don't affect our judgment and ability to reason. Other people are victims of evil such as bigotry, racism, discrimination, stereotype, sexism etc...
In the case of judgmental Christians, it could be because their don't fully appreciate their faith. So being judgmental is the easy way out of confrontation: Faced with an argument they disagree with, they can either 1) Rebuke it with an argument of their own 2) Change their mind and agree to it.
Since they can't do (1) for lack of understanding, and (2) will go against their core belief, the fall back is to become judgmental, and make broad stereotypical statements about the people of different faith/denomination.
That said, realize that by me writing this, I am being judgmental too! Maybe I don't fully appreciate their own concerns!
An honorable way forward is really to leave it to the Holy Spirit, and continue to pray for all of God's children.

Christians vary in their walks with God, by this I mean that some are stronger than others. Christ was the ONLY human that was perfect. Everyone else has sinned throughout their lives, many try not to be mean but others sometimes don't care. Just try to realize that no one you know is perfect, so anyone can loose their temper or be rude some times, but they do regret being rude to others. This is why christians like myself ask forgiveness from both God and people.

Why are some non-Christians so judgmental? Hmm...
That said, I see your point. There are definitely some Christians out there that are arrogant, prejudiced, and self-serving, and I am in total agreement with you that this is not Christ-like at all. But it has little to do with them being Christians. It has to do with them being bad people. Some people are selfish jerks. Some people are ignorant and mean. Some people like to put others down to build themselves up. There are people like this in every group, race, gender, nation, and culture. There are also really wonderful and caring people in every group, and this includes Christians as well. All you can do, regardless of who they are, is ignore the idiots that act so judgmental and focus on the ones that are good, like yourself. :-)

Those judgmental Christians are call bible thumpers also known as religious. They use their religion to their advantage to bring down others. As a result the rest of the believers and get a bad reputation and are clustered with them also makes their christ look bad.

Not all humans are God's childdren. You are only part of that family through an adoption process. Namely, accept that Jesus was God incarnate, born to a virgin. Accept that He died for YOUR sins, not anything HE did wrong. Accept that he rose three days later, body and soul. Accept that He is coming again. Then after some paperwork and a couple signatures, you have been officially adopted.

Christ told us to "preach the word to every nation."
Jesus taught against false teachers and man-made traditions, things that are practiced on a regular basis by denominations. Jesus established ONE church. If someone asks a questions to which there is a Biblical answer, then we are allowed to answer that question with scripture.
The problem is this, if a person is wrong, it is very hard to admit it. If the scriptures teach AGAINST your beliefs or religion, then it is not the teacher that is judging your beliefs, it is the Bible. The old saying still holds true "Sometimes the truth hurts."
