Cover the kitten's claws so he can't use them to climb. And spray the curtains with something that smells citrusy: A lot of cats don't like that.
Meanwhile, yes at that age they are extremely energetic. So toys to keep them occupied will probably be a good idea.

You don't, thats why they're called curtain climbers. He'll grow out of the crazy stage soon. You might try putting a scratching post in front of the curtains.
BTW if its a male kitten, get him fixed or the annoying curtain climbing will go away, but spraying your curtains (and everything else) will appear.

Other than take down the curtains theres not much you can do to stop it. This is instinct and its in a cats nature to climb, but this tip worked for me. Cats dont like citrus smells, I bought some lemons and cut them in half and placed them around the area I wanted to keep my cat away from, it worked for mine. Or buy a bottle of lemon juice and put it in a spray bottle then spray curtains, if it helps good, if it doesnt the house will smell lovely and fresh.

Kittens are very playful and all cats love to climb. I have been told they grow out of the playfulness around one but I have a 2 and a 3 yo cat who both attack my feet from under the bed and want to play with toys constantly. If you dont want the curtains ruined take them down, my cats also get in the blinds as well and I have had several blinds destroyed. Buy some cheap window coverings you dont care about and wont mind if they are damaged.

Would you like to be sprayed with a water spray? All you are doing is scaring him/her. Try and give him/her more attention and keep off processed foods. Sometimes too many cat biscuits which contain colourings/preservatives etc., will upset the kitten's stomach lining and also make him/her hyper.
Try feeding with natural foods like chicken and rice and cat milk.

Spray the curtains in like a lemon spray? its believed that cats dont like that smell, also they dont like loud noises, so clapping or shaking something noisy may work, You can buy things off ebay called claw caps, they cover the sharp bit of your kittens claws so they cannot scratch/pull at furniture, so I'm assuming it would help with the climbing problem also. :-)

Other than tying up your curtains out of reach, there isn't much you can do. The good news is that cats calm down a LOT as they get older - yours is still very young.
At about a year old s/he should stop doing it. For the time being, try distracting her/him with toys.

Put the kitten in a sack with some rocks and throw it in your nearest canal.
Only joking.
Have you thought about replacing the curtains with blinds? Or how about trimming the kitten's claws?

Take the curtins down. Sorry, but kittens that age are CRAZY! Big enough to get into trouble, and NO BRAINS working yet. When he/she gets to be about a year old things will settle out.
