Russia was offered the technology, but declined.

This is what PUTIN wants. Headlines to condition Russian voters Sergei Borisovich Ivanov is their savior.

Four reasons.

1. Russia is not the country that is in danger. They can take care of themselves. The countries that are getting the missle defense are the ones that need it.

2. Do you honestly trust Russia to not use the missle defense sheild for its own purposes and intentions? If you do, then you're pretty naive and don't know your history.

3. This has nothing to do with Russia. They are making it into something more than it really is due to their insecurity after centuries of instability, just like they always do.

4. Russia, moreso than the Middle East, has the capability of hitting Europe with missles right this very second. That is why Russia is mad. This is to protect Europe from the Middle East, but the truth is that it will protect them from Russia just as much, which makes me wonder: if they are not a threat to Europe, then why do they even care? Hmm...

It's not just to protect for or against the Mid East. It's not just in the Mid East, though it will certainly be helpful should a rogue state there obtain and fire missiles against us.

Not sure what your reference to Russia means but the Cold War is over.

Because to purpose of the shield is not to protect Russia. It is to protect ourselves and Europe.

The fact is that Poland and Romania remember what it was like the last time Russia "protected" them. It appears that they want an ally that they can trust.

The Russians are not our friends. If they wanted to build a missile defense system to help our allies they would have. Don't fall for Putans bull. He has been building up his military. Now when we defend our allies he claims it is us starting another cold war. Why is Putan complaining? The answer is that he will not be able to threaten us with missiles if we can blow them out of the sky.
