They bite best when they have an opportunity to feed. Fish are opportunistic feeders and some are predators. You might catch them at anytime day or night.

It all depends on the location and the weather.
Theres a big lake near here that I fish alot, most of the time the Bass feed better around 4pm until dark. Now in the river or in one of the cutoffs in the river, I have better luck in the early mornings or during the middle of the day. But again, like several others said. It all depends on the weather, the water temp, location, etc...
Good luck!

Everyone has good points but remember fish feed several times per day with the main feeds in the morning and evening times! At times there will be influences in feed times or patterns may it be from a pressure system or a change in hot or cold! When the water warms up try mid day fishing in very deep water for many species of fish. Look for the thermocline near breaks, weeds or over rocks and points and you will find fish and active feeders too.

Night fishing is the best. In the summer especially the water is just the right temperature and fish actually have great night vision capabilities (most species). This is a time also when mosquitoes are at their busiest and glide along the water surface, prompting fish to come up and feed.

I agree with John. Some fish, in the mornings, some in the afternoon, some at night. All depends.

Any time of day can produce good fishing. There are several factors that determine when the fishing will be good. Tides, moon phase and barometric pressure all can contribute to or detract from good fishing.

Early in the mornings because as the waters warm up they go deeper down where it is cooler.
They bite pretty good just before dark too, but not as well.
