a lot of people seems to believe in god and the bible and all that i don't. think what you will. i look at it as nothing more than something people came up with to give hope reason something to look forward to. i think it is a story written by man in nothing more than a book. Jesus wuz human one day divine the next. i have learned a lot on the topic of god but so much goes unexplained and people are so quick to believe and yet they make fun or think witchcraft is stupid. believe in neither its just an outside perspective. people that believe in god are so quick to disregard everything else mythological or magical seems to me to be more hypocritical than anything because non of you have proof of any of it and yet you critisize what others believe and think they are going to hell for it. oh and those of you who believe so whole much why is it you do not follow the rules of your bible and figure god will forgive you. maybe he does exist but i would rather burn in hell than serve in heaven

you all are making good points im not trying to sway your beliefs or anything i find the topic interesting and like to hear what people feel and have to say although i find that the bible and god are intertwined with one another thats why the bible comes into play and thats the only reason i have brought it up they seem to be connected. thank you for your opinion and i have and will read all things written in here i am much appreciative of you sharing and telling me and anyone else who reads your thoughts.

mithril im not attacking you on what you said or anything although it may seem that way. first off as long as you can comprehend what im saying why does punctuation matter im not a teacher nor do i claim to be. Jesus was human one day then divine the next. i forget i learned this a while back but anyway courts of some sort got together their was romans and a bunch of people that i read got together and they decided to say basically that Jesus was divine so it went frome human one day to divine the next im sure someone else has been exposed to this information if you can leave info on where it came from it would be most helpful in me stating my case but i know what i read. and i do understand all of this i just do not believe it i disagree w/ it its like an idea that went off w/ so many twists and turns to it that so much is unexplained so much is left out and do not tell me to speak about things i dont know you know nothing of whether it is true you believe so dont critisize me.

Its to bad that you feel that way , especially since the Bible
and its contents have in fact been proven . Just because you
reject Gods Word does not make it in anyway not true .
What do you believe in ? do you believe that your mother is
your real mother and if so why ? What about USA history
do you believe any of that , if so why ? Mere man wrote that !
Is not the Bible one of the most accurate history books of the
world !! which the science communities has depended on
for knowledge of world events , that they themselves tested
down through thousands of years and have never been able to disprove any of it but instead confirmed it . Its the only Book
in the world that has been scrutinized , spoke out against ,
tested over & over again , tried by the best minds of the
world and challanged . But yet all conceed to its absolute
truth . It is the inerrant Word of God , do you think that you
are any smarter than all the rest ? I bet that you simple reject
it with out any investment at all in it ,as for the rest ,who have
invested millions of $ to just find that everything said in the Bible are true . What rules ? is being a good person a rule
for you ? caring for fellow human beings and our environment
, is that a rule for you ? etc., etc., etc., if so , Satan will have
you with him and , I would not take that so lightly . If at all you
should read about the place that your so intent on going and
its rules !! . May God Reveal His Truth to you and pour out
His Saving Grace upon you , Amen ........

An interesting question, which some of your anwerers appear to have misunderstood. Your question is 'do I believe in God' not 'do I believe in the bible'!

I believe in God, not because I need something to believe in, nor because there might be something at the end of it for me. I believe in God simply because when I see how nature works, I simply cannot accept that it all happened by accident.

Put it this way. If you put all the required parts to make a Grandfather Clock in a large box, and just leave it alone, how many centuries would it take for those parts to assemble themselves into a clock?

Get my drift? The whole natural world works too perfectly to have happened by chance. The Big Bang theory, and Evolution just don't stand up to scrutiny.

People will say "how can you believe in a God that you can't see, hear or touch". I don't need to see God to know he exists, anymore than I need to see electricity to see that that exists either.

One other interesting point. There appears to be far more comments about the existence of God, from those that say they don't believe in God, than those that do!!

If you can sense something, it is real, whether it is visual, aural, tactile or olfactory. If you can't, then you will have to prove it using scientific or logical methods. An appeal to complexity is not an argument, it is merely a refusal to investigate. Hearing people talk about something is not proof of its existence. For generations, people believed that diseases were caused by an imbalance of bodily "humours", which could be alleviated by drainage. They could give seminars on the theory, but it was all nonsense. At one time, people believed combustion was caused by the release of a substance called "phlogiston" contained in everything that could burn. They wrote papers and gave speeches to students about it, until the nature of oxygen was discovered. So people talking, writing, singing or acting about "God" and "Jesus" prove nothing, unless they are citing verifiable physical evidence for their existence. Rumor is not fact, no matter how many people repeat it. Until substantiating evidence is produced, it is just rumor. Even visual observation is not guaranteed proof. The world presents a variety of illusions to an imperfect visual system. You can clearly see the sun and stars going around the stationary Earth, but scientific investigation has proven that this is not so. Evidence has to be validated by testing. Theists are reluctant, even incapable of investigating and empirically verifying their beliefs.

Um.......You'd rather BURN than SERVE? Dude, even right now, I'd rather serve than burn. I mean, if someone came up to me right now and said "OK, mithril, you can serve this food to people or you can have your hand burned", I'd be all "You want fries with that?"

C'mon. If you're half as educated as you claim to be, you'd know that Jesus Christ wasn't "human one day and divine the next". Skimming a few books can't compare with legitimate study. Punctuation doesn't hurt either.

Are there hypocritical Christians? Yes. No one likes it. Not Atheists, not Christians, not the sliver blue elves that steal the strawberries in my backyard.

It's your prerogative to be an Atheist. Just don't go making wild claims about things you don't know about or using it as an excuse to be ignorant.

i don't really believe in God

The thing with god is he forgives every one and if you are good through out your entire life but don't go to church every Sunday and don't believe in him then he would be the evil one because he is the one who is support to accept every one. and I think that god was created by people long ago who didn't like the idea that there was no reason for them to exists, and that if they did something wrong they could just say sorry to god and every thing would be forgiven and they wouldn't feel guilty. They were afraid of death and they wanted to pretend that there was something else out there, and they wanted others to believe this to. The whole idea of god seams stupid to me and how is every one suppose to fit in heaven? If heaven is in the clouds then it can't be that much bigger then how does any one fit.

Okay, I will not preach to you. All I ask is this, with an open mind ask God a question in your thoughts, not out loud, and do not tell anyone else what you asked. And He will answer you, when you receive your answer you will know that it is God that answered cause it will be the answer to your question. Don't make it extreme like to blow up the world or anything ridiculous. But He will answer through other people or daily events or even T.V. programs. Take care and may God bless you spiritually.

The universe is complex and probably required a Creator. But which one? It seems that all cultures throughout human history have recognized the role of a Creator God.

The Creator defined by the North American Native Americans only asked that humans live in harmony with all nature. In exchange, the Creator provided plants and animals for humans to use as food, clothing, shelter, and medicine. Early Native Americans showed their respect and appreciation to the Creator by making small offerings of tobacco.

The Creator God defined by Hebrew scholars, 6000 years ago in the Middle East, was a jealous, and often cruel God. He demanded that humans make sacrifices of animal blood in order to appease Him, and set out Old Testament laws of behavior that often required the stoning-to-death of your neighbor for sins as minor as eating shell fish or working on the Sabbath. These laws remained in effect for over 4000 years until Emperor Constantine made Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire and commissioned the first Bible from a collection of Hebrew scrolls and stories of Jesus. Religious scholars of today claim that the Old Testament God decided to change his original requirements for animal sacrifice and for stoning-your-neighbor-to-death for disobeying His written laws. This God, rather than having his human scribes re-write the laws on new scrolls, he decided to have His only Son sent to earth to be tortured and murdered.

I believe there is a Creator God. I just believe that his personality is more like the compassionate Creator God of the early Native Americans. If He turns out to be the cruel Middle Eastern God, and He throws me in Hell for thinking He is more loving than He really is, then I’m willing to accept that fate.

The proof of God is in the facts of the Bible. God has demonstrated perfect knowledge and control of the future. This mastery is revealed in the Book of Daniel and the Book of Revelation.

Interesting observation!

I don't have much to say, except to say 'Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.' Also, 'Without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and He is the rewarder of them that deligently seek him'.

So, you see ~ I am possessed with belief in God. I cannot ignore his existence. In fact His existence is much more real than anything you can see and feel.
