I'm going to breakfast with my mom at a local shop. All is homemade is it ok to have strawberry pancakes w/whipped cream and then cottage cheese and tuna salad for the rest of my day?

Lunch is good, but the breakfast has too many carbs. Forget the pancakes.

Pancakes can be great if they're whole grain and low or sugar free. I shy away from fruit toppings at restaurants because they're usually coated in sugar syrup and likely corn syrup and/or high fructose corn syrup. Although, if I'm out with friends or on vacation and pancakes are the best option, I go for the pancakes knowing that the occasional few white pancakes won't kill me. Also, unless they offer real maple syrup, stay away from the syrup. Most restaurant syrups are just (fake) maple flavored high fructose corn syrup. Oh, yeah. Whipped cream is just pure fat and who knows what else.

My husband just make pancakes at home now using a whole grain mix from Hodgston Mills and using bananas and/or apple sauce in lieu of oil and eggs. Instead of regular milk, we use soy, as that's what's in the fridge. (My husband is omni, but I've turned him on to the yumminess of vegan meals. Funny, they're even more yummy when he makes them.)

While I don't do cottage cheese or tuna, I might have gone for something lighther for the rest of the day as well. I used to eat like that when I knew I'd be having a heavy dinner or I wound up going out for breakfast to "save" calories. Now with the baby (I'm pregnant), I just eat whatever whenever and just make sure it's healthy or fairly healthy (i.e., whole wheat crackers with natural peanut butter for a snack, or my whole wheat floured, fat free [apple sauce instead of oil] vegan chocolate cake).

Ummmm...breakfast sounds yummy. But tuna and cottage cheese is just gross. Try a tuna salad with lots of veges.

Sugary glazed strawberries and whipped cream will add too many calories, and salmon with your salad would be better with low fat cottage cheese.

Try a light cereal (fiber one, cheerios) with the strawberries.
