Well, we are not completely closing our borders. In my opinion, we only need to close the borders between the US and Mexico that is where there are 95% of illegal immigrants from. I am sick of "amnesty" from the politicans and president Bush as I turn the TV on, watching the news everyday. Illegals are such disgusting things, they carry the diseases accross the border and into the US such as Hepatitis B, C, stomach virus, TB... I dont deny that we are the country of immigrants and this is how we are. But we want legal immigrants who are not breaking our laws and migrate here through legal channels. We are welcome hundred thousands of legal immigrants per year and why not keeping this way? I am sick of those demonstrators, mostly Hispanics, trying to over turn our laws by showing off thier so called "Latino Power". This is America, we speak English. I am very frustrated when i heard the stupid law makers in California were giving away driver licenses to Illegal Immigrants (mostly Mexican) few years ago. I am very sad when i heard many people got denied for some jobs because they do not speak Spanish!?!!(WTF is that?). Our economy is being hurt when billions of dollars being sent back to Mexico each year. Our Tax money are going toward education for illegal immigrants' kids, welfare, housing, and more. Illegal claimed they pay tax for this country??? how can they pay tax when they do not have legal papers? They are approximately 1% of the US population, how much tax can they pay? We are the US citizens who are paying tax to support them and thier kids. How many kids they have? 3 or 4 or even more. Last words for illegal: No amnesty for You!!!

We ought to go back to the immigration policies we had before Teddy the Red-Nosed Senator screwed it all up.

My mother, her brothers and her parents came to the U.S. from France in 1955. They were Polish, but my grandparents had been living there since the end of WWII.
When they came, they had to be sponsored by an American citizen, in this case my great uncle, who took full responsibility for them.
They had to be immunized before leaving Europe, have background checks, have a promise of employment, housing arrangements, my mother & uncles had to be immediately enrolled in school, they had to learn English, and any trouble with the law, or failure to comply in the first year would result in immediate deportation, and heavy fines for the sponsor.

Makes more sense than the open borders policy we have now, letting in all the illegal riff-raff along with the truly hard working people who want a better life.

Close the borders. It is America!! If we do something illegal, we go to jail, pay a fine, but they want to forgive them and let them come in. It is becoming a country, where Americans are the illegals. We don't have any rights. People need to stand up and take America back. God Bless America, if immigrants want to come in, that is fine,, to a limit, but do it legally, or what is that telling our children, that they can break the law! Don't think so,, Wake up America,,, Close the borders, ship illegals home. I'm sure we cant go to their country and get away with it.

We have a estimated 12 million illegals here now, I say we are full to capacity close the borders until we can remove the ones here illegally.

It does seem like we have enough immigrants doesn't it? I would prefer to still allow good people to come here. We just need to get the nonconformists out of here. Lets bring people who will create jobs not take them.

i don't know about closing borders completely, that would just give illegals the excuse for not trying to be legal, and that would discriminate against the ones who do it legal, i don't believe the legal ones should suffer for what the illegal criminals are doing!!! but i do believe in more border patrol and giving anyone one that works the borders more authority to handle the situation the best way they see fit, if that involves shooting them, more power to them!!!

I think it's funny how we always brag about being a nation of immigrants, and a melting pot, but now we want everyone else to stay out. Face it--none of us are natives--even the "Native" Americans originally crossed the land bridge. What would our lives be like if someone had thought like this back when OUR ancestors were coming to the U.S. because they wanted a better life, too?
