Lot of people are being told something like this" ... Christ said, "I am the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father God except by me." Only Jesus Christ offers the free gift of Salvation and eternal life in heaven. Jesus Christ is God."
This is what a student said at her graduation ceremony. After hearing that I came to the conclusion that any person who believes in the existence of God but not in Jesus Christ, that person is condemned to suffer eternal torture. I suppose in the same way that a person who do not believe in the existence of God will suffer the same fate I am not discussing here the existence of God or not, it is irrelevant for this question
I want to know if a person says my religion is right but yours is wrong. Is the person arrogant? ignorant? or both?

Ignorant...Yes.
Arrogant...Yes.

She is essentially saying, "I'm right, you're wrong. I know what God wants, you don't. I'm the best, you're the worst. Nanny nanny boo boo."

well, I think I have a double answer for that:

A person who says my religion is the one, and yours is fake, is not arrogant because his own religion requires him to believe that as a dogma. When Christians, for example, pray the Creed (Credo? i'm not sure if you call it that way), you're saying exactely that: I believe in one God, etc (sorry, don't know the translation in English). So, part of being Christian requires to believe and tell people about the one real and single true religion.

my second answer is more about common sense. I am Christian and do believe for myself that my religion is the one but I also respect and understand that there are people who believe other things. Everyone must be free to believe what he wants. What is impossible to think, for anyone that believes in something, is that what he believes is wrong... it would have no sense... it's normal that a person thinks that what he believes is the right thing...

So, that person was not being arrongant as to his religion, but he was as to no respecting, tolerating or be open-minded to the existence of other beliefs... that's what i think.

besos!

A person should decide what they believe and on what they will base their life and actions. It's not arrogant for a person to say that she's right if she has examined the evidence and applied due thought and consideration. I'm not sure what the quote has to do with someone's graduation though.

It's not as much arrogance as it is brainwashing. Religious people are fed that crap since childhood when their instincts make them more likely to internalize what adults tell them. Later, religions use just about any type of emotional manipulation available to gain and keep converts. It also strongly discourages them from considering outside points of view.

So, when a person says something like that, they really believe it. Some are really tormented by the fact that a close friend of theirs is supposedly going to Hell. It's really sad.

There is only one absolute truth. This is God's word not ours. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.(Genesis 1:1)
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.(Proverbs 1:7)
The fool has said in his heart,“There is no God.” (Psalm 14:1)
There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. (Proverbs 14:12)
“The heart is deceitful above all things,And desperately wicked; Who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind,
Even to give every man according to his ways,
According to the fruit of his doings.(Jeremiah 17:9-10)
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans (6:23)
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6)
“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” (Mark 1:15)
