Some as low as $50 per month but most are around $80 to $100 a month. The Kenpo Karate School where I'm at cost $50 a month for all colored belt students and $50 for belt testing fee (witch included a belt), black belts..no monthly fees but a $100 test fee witch included an embroiled belt. Colored belts test are ever 2 to 4 months and black belts once a year.

Karate classes can range from $50.00-$500.00 per month depending on the program, instructor, and part of the country you live in. It really pays to shop around and look for a class that is good, affordable, and that appeals to you. Make sure you talk to the owner if the school you really want to attend is a little out of your price range. They will sometimes take the approach of giving back something to the community and maybe drop that price for you. Another situation I have seen is where a student (or their parent) performs some services like bookkeeping, assisting with promotions and advertising, cleaning the studio, or runs the front counter during classes in exchange for a break on the cost of classes.

Billy Blanks once told me how he could not afford karate lessons when he first started in karate and it was only because someone gave him a break that he was able to attend classes and receive lessons and look at where he is at now.

Giving breaks can create some problems for that owner so you need to be mindful of that and remain a good and loyal student to them and make sure you follow through with your end of the bargain.

Remember that a 4 year old shouldn't be expected to really learn the martial arts. Instead, they should be encouraged to continue on with it when they're older and could really learn something from taking classes. So, I'd have to disagree with the previous answer; the ATA is great for kids, they have special programs designed for kids as young as 3 to have fun in a martial arts environment. Remember that the focus is not to be able to learn a 540 kick (though it'd be cool seeing a 4 year old do one), but just to have fun. Classes shouldn't run you more than $100/month.

It depends on where you live & whether or not it is a full time school. In some rural areas you can probably find classes for $40/month without any trouble. In major cities expect to pay 4-5 times that.

It depends on the dojo, anywhere frmo 15$ for a class taught in a Community Center somewhere, to 100$ for a commercial store with all the ribbons. Often the cheap classes are just as high quality as the low, so in your case, I'd check out the individual sensei and judge for yourself how good they are.

well it depends on where you go right now, although i work out for free(i am an upperbelt) you can get classes from 30 dollars to 200 a month.. you quality could toss either way. Just because you go to a lower quality class DOES NOT mean you wont learn anything because my class is good but not the best and i have pertected myself from several very REAL attacks

depends on the country you're in. try JKA (Japan Karate Association) for more regulated fees. meaning, you'll not be overpaying your instructor.

personally it costs me a Php200.00 ($4.25) for annual dues and a monthly instructor's fee of Php 300.00 ($6.38) only. Of course, JKA took into consideration that the country I'm in is a third world country. for more developed nations, the fee is higher but with only minimal differences.

"The cost of karate classes and for that matter any martial arts class is of no significance - the true currency of the martial arts is merit!"
