If global warming is really going to take major, major effect, it will happen in hundreds or thousands of years.

Global warming is just a lazy comfortable media way of refering to climate change. http://www.ipcc.ch

Putting more energy into a complex system like earths oceans & weather can cause all sorts of unexpected, hard to predict, concequences as the system tries to find a new stable state
eg Climate change melting Greenland ice & desalinating the atlantic could stop the ocean current from the carribean that currnetly keeps western Europe warm. if that current stops then Europe will be as cold as Newfoundland.

The GW people always have a way of saying weather that is unusual is beacause of GW. Just like when Anne Bancroft was going to walk to the north or south pole or wherever to prove how much the ice had melted and they had to cut their trip short because of dangerous cold conditions. They say that GW makes the weather more difficult to predict and causes extreme conditions. It's the same way in North Dakota, where I live. This year has been unusually cool so far but I'm sure it can be explained by the GW people in some way.

The idea is that global warming is melting polar ice caps which is pouring lots of ice water into the ocean which is making lots of places colder and raising the ocean level and affecting weather patterns. It doesn't mean America is going to be a tropical paradise, it means it will be flooded.

world's climate is primarily based on the ocean currents that run underneath the oceans. the temperature of the ocean currents are hotter near the equator and colder near the poles. the flow of the ocean currents forms climate patterns that we experience during the 4 seasons. because of global warming the polar ice caps melts and mixes with the ocean water, thereby altering normal temperature of the ocean currents. this disrupts the normal flow of the ocean currents which in turn results in the altering of the climate patterns. change in climatic patterns is a clear indication of something is not right. all these ocean currents are completely connected. because of this what happens in one corner of the earth will affect the other corners too.

the following link gives the map of the ocean currents:

Global warming changes the weather everywhere, and not necessarily upwards on the thermometer. Look for increased tropical storms, drout, flooding, electrical storms, and yes, snow.

global warming includes extremes in climates and also erratic behaviour in the climate..the climate being cold when it shouldnt be and vice versa....so face it global warming is real and its not good for us

Well, unfortunately with global warming they change their predictions to match whatever is happening. I am in Florida, last year it was "oh there are going to be so many hurricanes because of global warming!" and then this year its "global warming is causing higher winds in the atlantic which is preventing hurricanes." It's junk science, period.
