I have been running a low grade fever for about 6 weeks now. I always heard that you don't have to worry about low grade fevers but I don't think it should last that long. My temp used to always be 97 point something. Now it is ranging between 99 and 100. I feel tired and I am sweating alot at night. Any comments? Thanks

It may be mono.

Mono can usually lasts about 4-6 weeks (sometimes up to 3 months) and can cause a low grade fever. Plus, I have mono right now, and I've been noticing that I will wake up saturated in sweat. And the fact that you feel tired is a really common mono symptom too. It is important that you get to your doctor though, to make sure it's not anything more serious. Good luck and feel better!

Well it's been kinda hot weather, perhaps your body is responding to the increase in temperature. Is your temp always low grade? If it is, I would go to the doctor and explain your problems. You may have a thyroid disorder. That's what it sounds like. Plus, i'm not sure if you are a male or female. Anyway, sounds like your thyroid. Good luck. Go to a doc.

fever occurs when there's something inside your body that it's trying to fight off. sometimes it's viral, but all the time it's bacterial. pathogenic bacterias (disease-causing) looooves body temperature. our body has a good way of sensing that you have an infection inside your body and as a result -- it increases your temperature in an attempt to kill these bacteria. however you mentioned you only have low-grade fever -- it sounds like you don't have an infection, but that fever you feel -- is caused by something else. sometimes when women menstruate -- their temperatures rise... also when they exercise, and there are so many factors that will make your temperature rise. sometimes when you lie down and put a blanket over you, your temperature will rise. it sounds like your problem is working the other way round. you don't feel tired because of the fever, but rather your temperature increase because of what you psychologically feel. as with the anti-depressants -- i don't think that reason is sufficient enough to prescribe you anti-depressants. you got depressed from feeling bad? that's not a criteria for people to take anti-depressants. how did you get these pills by the way? they are prescription pills, if you got this -- i can imagine that you went to a doctor. so why didn't you discuss your health problems with him/her then? another thing, how healthy is your lifestyle? if your diet is poor, your body senses an imbalance in your electrolytes (which is usually caused by infection) and this triggers your fever. if you don't eat good, you don't exercise and you're not living a healthy lifestyle, then your body will take its toll on you. try to engage in some type of exercise regularly -- this will regulate your hormones and make you feel much better. im sorry. but this sounds like "self-pity" -- common among "depressed" people. i don't do "pity talks" -- like "oh you poor thing." i do the "tough love approach" -- "if you don't want to get up and do something. im not gonna help you" -- people are miserable because they want to stay miserable. ask yourself, do you want to stay in this state?

This kind of sounds like Tuberculosis. You should go to your doctor to find out. Even if it isn't, this is definitely a sign that your body is fighting some kind of infection.
