There are many steps that as an individual can take to reduce global warming. My friend, first look into your own backyard. India is full of pollution, contaminated waters, polluted air and solid pollution everywhere leading to public health diseases.

Why not we all take pleadge an take steps to protect and save or environment first, then take steps to reduce global warming.

My friend, global warming is the new manthra the western world is doing. Do you know why US buys textiles and leather from India and other underdeveloped countries? Think carefully - One answer is cost. But why the cost is cheaper in india - because treatment of pollution arising from these industries is so high and these developed countries donot treat to reduce cost.

I wish every citizen in India takes ultimate responsibility for pollution and is given ultimate rights to potect the earth. This is called Human rights.

We can't reduce global warming. Only the Sun can do that because it's the one causing it. Not us. Having said that, you SHOULD protect our environment by recycling all paper, plastic, metal, and glass. If you separate your trash like this, you won't even have any trash left, just items to recycle.

If you have the means, install solar panels on your homes. Get a hybrid vehicle. There are many things you can do, but first you need to realize that global warming is a scam just like the "war on terror" and it is designed to create a mandatory 'carbon tax' that will be payed into the United Nations a.k.a. world government.

I believe what Yahoo! is doing with their "Greenest City" promotion is a great place to start to reduce global warming. By pledging to reduce CO2 emissions, you can individually have a major impact on the end results of global warming. You have to follow through with your pledge, though, because just saying you are going to do something is worth a dime.

One of the best ways to decrease your environmental footprint is to eat less meat. "The international meat industry generates roughly 18% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions- even more than transportation- according to a report last year from the U.N.'s Food and Agriculture Organization." (Source: Time Magazine, April 9, 2007)

Look. I'm not saying you have to become a vegan or vegetarian. Just keep it in mind when you place your dinner order that a vegetarian driving a Hummer is more environmentally friendly than a carnivore in a Prius.

Shorten you showers, it makes a lot of greenjouse gas just to heat even a few litres of hot water. Another thing you can do is try and put off using the heater and air con as much as you can. That is one of the main reasons we have global warming.

Since solar and wind power are so land intensive they will never come close to completely replacing fossil fuel, the only long term approach worth pursuing is refusing to vote for anyone who doesn't openly advocate nuclear power.

If lowering your thermostat 2 degrees etc. makes you feel good, then go ahead and do it, but ultimately if you have a lifestyle in the modern urban environment you are a net emitter of greenhouse gas.

I think that the whole global warming issue is used to take peoples money.

I think that if we REALLY want to stop this, we should outlaw volcanoes. I know, it sounds silly - but a volcano erupts with more CO2 than anything around.

Also, using the environment as excuse, the governments in europe tax their people more and more, without any apparent benefits.
(Except richer politicians).
