Try sitting her down and telling her that she's a great girl (describe her good qualities) and she's going to find someone special today, but this boy isn't it. Crushing over him when nothing's ever going to happen is never going to get her anywhere or do her any good. It may be hard to "break" your friends obsession or convince her otherwise, but as a friend, just let her know you're there for her and that you don't want her to get hurt. She may get angry at you because she's wrapped up in this boy so much, but sometimes you have to be blunt with people if you care about them. If she's a good friend she won't be let you telling her stop your friendship.

4 years of obsessed style stalking and nothing has been done yet. Go to the school principal and let them know what is going on. Don't even tell your friend your doing this, he will stop you...but you need to do this.

This stalker chic may one day go over the edge and who knows....could kill your friend. It happens. If you care for your friend, tell the principal, and his parents.
This is a dangerous situation. Many will laugh it off, but she sounds a bit nutty to keep this going for four years. Good luck.

I think it may be time for a little tough love. Tell her how it is straight up. It'll hurt, but maybe she needs that to get it.

Tell her that he is a jerk, and that she is wasting valuable time on him, shen she could be looking for a nice guy. Tell her that it is his loss.
