Matthew 9:9 proves that Matthew was not the author of the first Gospel which bears his name:
"And as Jesus passed forth thence, He (Jesus) saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and He (Jesus) saith unto Him (Matthew), follow me (Jesus). And he (Matthew) arose, and followed Him (Jesus)." Without any stretch of the imagination, one can see that the He’s and the Him’s of the above narration do not refer to Jesus or Matthew as its author, but a third person writing what he saw or heard - a hearsay account and not words inspired by God.

No book of the bible was "written" by the people the books are named after. Those stories were passed down through the oral tradition and written down centuries later.

It was written by, Matthew ( Levi)
a Tax Collector, to teach the Jewish
people about Jesus.

You need a Bible like " ilumina ", that
Benny Hinn put out on CD. It will give
you alot of information, for example:

" Jesus saw a man named Matthew
sitting at the receipt of custom ",

ilumina - " Jesus saw a man name
Matthews sitting at his Tax Collectors Booth".
" Come to be my Disciple",
Jesus said to him.
```````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Matthew walked with Jesus,
he knew Him. He wrote so people
would know about Jesus.
The Bible is the Word of God.
I'm sorry, but your interpretation of Matthew 9:9 is what is at fault.
Matthew is writing in the 3rd person (he did this, he said that, etc.) referring to himself. Many rappers or sports stars refer to themselves in the 3rd person.
And finally, the book of Matthew has traditionally been assigned to him. The book itself doesn't claim an author.
Try again!
an incredible style of authors write interior the third man or woman. Papias, the Bishop of Hieropolis in Asia Minor (ca. a hundred and ten-one hundred twenty five A.D.) is the earliest account that the gospel's nameless author became named Matthew. it fairly is been universal via the church ever via fact. in easy terms those with an schedule to discredit the Gospel account characteristic it to others.
Uhh...Matthew was a pretty common name back then. Believe it or not, there was more than one person named Matthew.
To the person below me - what's wrong with questioning things?
