I'm afraid you are at a disadvantage as far as living in a tropical climate goes. I used to live in Florida where the Palmetto bugs were big enough to saddle and ride! Ha!
I would choose a totally indoor dog, not just because of the possible consumption of these bugs, but because it is just too darn hot for them to be outside.

You can try a Chinese crested dog, but they get sun burnt so you will have to put sunscreen on it

Italian greyhounds like it warm too. Mine is perfectly happy in hot weather while my other dogs always pant and need to lie in the shade

You have to keep your dogs inside though. When they are outside you have to keep them on a leash. Never let them wander.

You just have to watch them and make sure they do not eat bugs, because as far as I know all dogs enjoy eating bugs.

Im afraid you really need a place inside to keep a dog in tropical climate. they can get sunburn, dehydration and overheat.

not to say they can't spend time outdoors with u, but not full time. U shave them, they dont have protection. they need shade and fresh water at all times and its still hot in the shade.....

Check with local breeders and see what is there.
