The Battle of Corinth, Mississippi occured on Oct. 2nd, 1862.
The Emancipation Proclamation was printed in a preliminary version in the Union newspapers on Sept. 23rd, 1862. It was announced after the Battle of Antietam (Sept. 17th), and PUT INTO EFFECT as of January 1st, 1863.
* The Battle of Stones River (Murfreesboro) began on Dec. 31st, 1862, and was fought until Jan.2nd, 1863.
