So I just need to know if leis are only for girls, or are they also appropriate for boys. Colors would be helpful too.

Absolutely, they are piled high on boys in Hawai'i on graduation night.

There are even leis made especially for guys, they are called maile leis and are made of leaves

And for the guy who wouldn't get caught dead wearing a lei, here's a Presidential Candidate wearing a beautiful one

I had a few male classmates wearing leis, its not just a girl thing.

Yes, leis are worn by men and women, boys and girls. I've been to Hawaii NUMEROUS times and have seen this.

I can't tell you the etiquette with them, but I've been to meetings, gatherings and family functions where they were worn by both genders.
