I keep on getting ingrown toenails on my big toes. It's generally on the left one on the left hand side. It always has pus.

Anyway I can stop this?

If you are cutting your toenail yourself you need to sterilize your clippers prior to using. Make sure the nail edge is well filed rounded so it does not go back into the skin. They also make pads for this that you slip in, I've never used them, but have seen them in the foot section of the drugstores. Then keep neosporin on your toe (do not bandage it and be barefoot as much as possible). You need to be sure your shoes are wide enough so they aren't squishing your toes and making this happen. By keeping the edge well filed round it should grow high enough to stop growing in the skin. Don't clip too short anymore then. Always soak your feet in warm soapy water to soften and clean the skin prior to working on them. This should take care of your problem. Good luck, cause I know they hurt!

Try cutting a V shape in the middle of your nail. This will train the nail to grow up and out. My husband used to get them all the time. That is what I did to make them less frequent. Works really well. You may have to take this one out, then start from there.

You may need to go to a podiatrist and have him remove the side of the nail.
I had it a few years back, it takes about a half hour and it's really painless.
Easy procedure and I haven't had any problem since.

cut the toe nails horizontally. If you have pus you might have to drain it or use antibiotics. better go to a doctor.
