Well the 6.0l was the improvement from 7.3l, and many will say the 7.3L is more dependable, although that is a bit untrue. When the 6.0L first came out in the 2nd half of the 2003 model year, there was a problem with the computer that Ford didn't have a fix for right away, but they fixed it with a reprogram. It gets a little better fuel economy than the 7.3L, it's much quieter, it has more power(even though it is a smaller engine and has more filter systems that usually rob power from engines), and it's newer. They have recently gone to the 6.4L twin turbo because of governement mandated emissions laws, again a better engine than the the latter 6.0l. The biggest difference you'll find is the addition of a specially made 5 speed Torqueshift transmission-virtually bullet proof, and you won't find it on the 7.3L truck. Either way you go, you are getting one hell of a truck with a great engine regardless of which one you go with.

You should be able to turn the cylinder back to lock normally when that happens.. the tumblers in the lock get stuck allowing for the condition to happen...

You need a key clyinder.. best to go to the Ford dealer for it if you want the ignition key to match the door key... others like from autozone are cheaper but you also will need two keys to start and unlock it.

Take it back to the dealer and have then fix it. It should still be under warranty so it should not cost you any thing to have it fixed. It is doing what is called dieseling and that has nothing to do with the fact that it uses diesel fuel. I think it may be a timing or ignition problem.

it could just be dieseling it takes a while sometimes to warm a diesel engine up and may also take a while for them to cool down to the point where the pistons are no longer stroking and making the glow plugs ignite.

Sounds like a problem with the ignition switch itself. Have it checked out at a repair shop.

I would first check to see if they ever had recall on that model then may be they can repair it for free. If that don't work it seem like ignition is something you can look up on books or internet easily.

your ignition is broken...many Fords in my youth ran without keys...you put the key into a turning ignition and sometimes that key slipped out....meaning you could start the car without the key....great for when the parents went to sleep!
