Hi:
O.A. is usually in reference to Over-eaters annomyous. Just as AA has the "12 Step Program" OA has one designed for their program and receive great results. Here is a more in depth meaning for you:
Overeaters Anonymous (OA) is a twelve-step organization that bases its program on the original twelve-step organization, Alcoholics Anonymous. The only differences in the Twelve Steps are in the first step, where OAers admit they "are powerless over food", and the twelfth step, where OAers carry "this message to compulsive eaters".
Overeaters Anonymous was founded in January 1960 by three women, only one of whom -- Rozanne S. -- stayed in the program. Its World Service Office is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Its website is www.oa.org. Although it is very difficult to assess the size of any twelve-step group, OA estimates it has over 70,000 members in over 70 countries. The World Service Business Conference, held annually in Albuquerque, is the group conscience of Overeaters Anonymous. Its administrative affairs are conducted through a Board of Trustees consisting of ten trustees representing ten geographical regions, and six general service trustees who function as an administrative group overseeing the business of Overeaters Anonymous.
OA has developed its own literature and also accepts AA literature. Both Alcholics Anonymous (the Big Book) and the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of Overeaters Anonymous are widely read throughout OA.
OA differs from AA in one respect. OA has not identified one particular substance -- as AA has identified alcohol -- as being the addictive substance. Each member is encouraged to find his or her own foods, food ingredients, or eating behaviors, that cause uncontrollable cravings, and to abstain from those. The Twelve Steps are used in OA to recover from the mental obsession that causes compulsive eaters to return to eating foods or indulging in eating behaviors that their experience has shown them causes the uncontrollable cravings.

Can you be more specific? The first thing that popped into my head was osteoarthritis, and I'm sure that's not what you're talking about.
Oh, I see you're in diet & fitness - are you talking about overeaters anonymous?
Overeaters Anonymous offers a program of recovery from compulsive overeating using the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of OA. Worldwide meetings and other tools provide a fellowship of experience, strength and hope where members respect one another's anonymity. OA charges no dues or fees; it is self-supporting through member contributions.
Unlike other organizations, OA is not just about weight loss, obesity or diets; it addresses physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. It is not a religious organization and does not promote any particular diet. To address weight loss, OA encourages members to develop a food plan with a health care professional and a sponsor. If you want to stop your compulsive eating, welcome to Overeaters Anonymous.
