The brakes may need to be replaced, or you may have breakduct in them. Try pressure washing the wheels at a local car wash. Whatever you do, DO NOT USE WD-40 ON THEM! If you do, you will never be able to stop...

All brakes make some noise especally when lightly appling just before the car comes to a stop. Only in America do we want super quiet brakes at the expence of stopping power. When washing the car don't forget to also wash the brake dust off of the brake calipers and brake disks let the car cool rinse the top and sides first then do the rims and brakes.
