My husband I bought Waaayyyy too much beer for a guest for our Christmas eve party. (yes, I've had it that long) We don't drink and I want to clear my refrigerator out. The 'born on' date is,12-1-06. They are bottles.

Beer, unlike other foods, can not make you sick when you drink it after it "expires"... cans keep beer fresher longer than bottles, because heat and light affect beer's 'shelf life'... I would offer it to your neighbor, with an explanation of why... 6 months is not too bad, especially if it's been kept in the fridge... if your neighbor finds it skunky, they can simply dispose of it.... I would not look a gift horse in the mouth... and, frankly, Budweiser is not my idea of a great-tasting beer to begin with... so... it should be fine... and I would certainly drink it, especially if it was gratis!

When they go out of business?
Most Beer and Cokes have an indefinite shelf life. But, because people need to be told how they live, there is a expiration date. Food the same, if it stink it not good, and a can of meat from an 1800 expedition was opened in 1930 +/- and they say it was fed to a cat with no ill effects, and if a person really knows their cat ......................... it will "NOT" eat spoiled food. Read History about Cans! Very interesting.

Among the canned food items retrieved from the Bertrand in 1968 were brandied peaches, oysters, plum tomatoes, honey, and mixed vegetables. In 1974, chemists at the National Food Processors Association (NFPA) analyzed the products for bacterial contamination and nutrient value. Although the food had lost its fresh smell and appearance, the NFPA chemists detected no microbial growth and determined that the foods were as safe to eat as they had been when canned more than 100 years earlier.
