A spirtual person who has experienced these scriptures would have a different explanation but, from an intellectual standpoint, in John 6:44 he is talking to the Jews (crowd). Who where born into a legal relationship with the Father. It goes on to describe that the Jews thur, the prophets had intellectual knowledge of how to know who Jesus was. In this since, and at that time, the person(s) could be drawn to Jesus or directed to him.

At John 14:6, he is talking to his diciples only, directing them back to the Father.

Where is the contradiction? Continue reading - John 6:45-46 "It is written in the prophets: 'They shall all be taught by God.' Everyone who listens to My Father and learns from Him some to me. Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God; He has seen the Father."

And continue reading John 14:7 "If you know Me, then you will also know My Father. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him."

All of these verses mean the same thing. That the Son of God and the Father of God are one in the same. Jesus is God. God is both Father and Son. To know the Father is to know the Son. To know the Son is to know the Father. When you know one, you know the other. This is the start of teaching us of the HOly Trinity.

Actually, according to other passages in John, it is the Holy Spirit who actually draws people to Jesus.

John 6:44 seems to be referring to the fact that God the Father calls people by proxy, by sending God the Holy Spirit to draw people. In other words, the Father does not call people directly, he does it indirectly.

John 14:6 seems to be referring to the fact that no one comes formally into the Father's presence (I.E.: into Heaven) without Jesus. The context of John chapter 14 should have made it clear that Jesus was talking about how to get to Heaven here.

No, they explain that the Holy Father selects through the conviction of His Spirit, those chosen to receive life through the sacrifice [last] made by Jesus. Joh 16:8-11

John 6:44, If you don't know that Jesus is the son of God then you won't know God. John 14:6 just the way he said it.

The Father draws us but it is through faith in Christ and accepting his atoning work on the cross that we enter.

Kind of like a man (Father) standing inside a house calling his son but the only way to enter is through the door (Jesus).

The two verses you cite are complimentary, not contradictory.

The Father draws through the Son.

NO. They mean the same thing. The Holy Trinity works together to achieve a single will.

"Everyone who glorifies the Father does so through the Son in the Holy Spirit; everyone who follows Christ does so because the Father draws him and the Spirit moves him."---Catholic Church ecunemical councils

Both state that the way to the Father is through Christ. One says how a person is drawn to Christ and the other does not. I see no contradiction.
